How many of you have a 5th or 6th grader who struggles with fractions? There are so many different rules when it comes to solving an equation with fractions, and some might be stuck on "WHY do we have to 'keep, switch, flip' when dividing fractions?!" Here is a good resource to show why we have that process!

Using magnifying glasses can be so fun! I love to play little games where they have to "search & find" a letter they know, or go on a "word hunt" throughout the house or in the yard.

This one's bringing all the Monday vibes. Anybody else have a child looking at their work like they'd rather destroy it, than do it?

Just a friendly reminder that children are as unique as fingerprints and snowflakes. No two are alike, so why would we expect them to learn in the same way and at the same pace?

Let's talk math! For most young learners math can be fun and exciting! They use manipulatives, or objects, to help them bring the numbers they are working with to life. Another great way to keep the excitement going and reinforce what they are learning at school, are games! This one is a favorite at my house.

Letter confusion is so common when children are learning to read. The biggest being, the letters "d" and "b". I love giving visuals, and the "doughnut and bat/ball" visual is one of my favorites, because what child doesn't love doughnuts, and won't instantly recognize a bat or ball?
The key is focusing on which shape comes first, and naming a visual that also starts with the same letter sound! It's amazing how quickly a child's brain picks up these associations, and uses them as tools throughout their learning experience.
