Dawson-Boyd Robotics

Dawson-Boyd Robotics This is the robotics team of Dawson-Boyd High School. We participate in the FIRST Robotics Competition.

The Dawson-Boyd Robotics is a high school extra-curricular activity for students 7-12th grade that builds a completely new robot every year according to FIRST’s guidelines. FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is an international youth organization that holds several competitions, such as the FIRST Robotics Regional competition that our team participates in. In January

, we receive our basic building kit and our objective for our robot. The students have to build, code, and fund-raise for themselves with limited adult help.

Our team is filled with anticipation as on February 28th, THIS Saturday, we will be taking a trip to Willmar for a practice competition known as week 0. 🥳This will be our first time of the season where we get to see and compete unofficially with other teams. This will give our team a feel for the official competition which is also coming up soon, in Grand Forks. Feel free to come and watch; it is open to public spectators for free. If you can’t make it, fret not as we will be posting the places you can see us play on our social media! Thanks for all the support we have gotten as we continue through the season! 🐰❤️

Two weeks away from Week 0 in Wilmar, Minnesota (Thanks to for hosting) and the build squad has nearly finished the robot. 🦾 They just need to complete the hopper, and then comes programming refinement and drive practice. The marketing squad has made over 150 buttons and is planning on extending that number! Before Week 0 the bumpers for the robot have to be made. They will show that it belongs to the Team 6146 and change between red and blue corresponding the alliance color of each match. The bumpers are made of dense foam with woodboard backing and fit around the robot’s frame.

Thanks to our team’s dedication, we’ve made tremendous progress across the board! The build squad has finalized the shooter for scoring "Fuel" (yellow balls 🟡) and has a solid start on the intake mechanism. Meanwhile, the marketing squad finished the banner to recognize sponsors at competition and prepared some special gifts for teams at the Great Northern Regional event 👀. They’ve also updated all sponsors on our website—link provided below. For anyone who wants a full view of what we have been doing, a newspaper article will be in the The Dawson Sentinel soon. Thanks for all the support so far in the REBUILT season! ❤️
