Four Dawson FFA members have earned the prestigious Lone Star FFA Degree and will be recognized during the Texas FFA State Convention this summer. Congratulations to McKenna Stoker, Harlee Farish, Austin Rounsavall, and Madison Houston.
The Lone Star Degree is the highest degree awarded by the Texas FFA Association and is earned by only a select percentage of FFA members. Recipients must demonstrate exceptional leadership, community service, participation in FFA activities, and significant success in their Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) programs. Earning this degree represents years of hard work, dedication, and commitment to agricultural education.

Additionally, Mr. Rounsavall will be receiving his Honorary Lonestar Degree on the same stage!
The Honorary Lone Star FFA Degree is the highest honorary recognition awarded by the Texas FFA Association. It celebrates outstanding service to agricultural education, honoring adults like teachers, business leaders, superintendents, and community partners who have made exceptional, long-term contributions to the FFA.

Degree Check Results 🖤💛

Dawson FFA was recognized for excellence as a chapter. The chapter earned a Gold-Rated National Chapter Award, placing Dawson among the top FFA chapters in the nation. In addition, Dawson FFA was selected as a National Chapter Award Finalist and will advance to national judging. This recognition highlights the impact our members have made through leadership development, community service, and agricultural literacy programs.

Adding to the chapter's success, Dawson FFA will receive a Gold-Rated Golden Horizon Award. This award recognizes outstanding agricultural science programs and celebrates the dedication of agricultural educators who provide students with exceptional opportunities for growth, leadership, and career preparation. Receiving Gold status among Texas three-teacher agricultural science departments is a testament to the quality of our program and the hard work of our students and staff.

These accomplishments represent countless hours of hard work, record keeping, leadership development, and commitment from our students. Dawson FFA continues to prove that students from a small community can compete with the very best in Texas and the nation. We are incredibly proud of these students and look forward to cheering them on at the Texas FFA State Convention.

Klarrissa Chavez was selected as the recipient of the Ryan Mott Memorial Scholarship and will be recognized on stage during the Texas FFA State Convention. This scholarship honors a student who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, character, and commitment to agriculture and the FFA organization. Being selected for this recognition is a tremendous accomplishment and a reflection of Klarrissa's impact both within Dawson FFA and beyond.

Dawson FFA had three Agriscience Fair projects (4 students) evaluated during State Degree Check.
Sarah Chavez earned a Silver Rating for her research project.
Earning Gold Ratings were Malaina Bryan, Klarrissa Chavez, and Austin Rounsavall.

Gold-rated projects advance to the Texas FFA Agriscience Fair in July, where they will compete against the top agricultural research projects in the state. Agriscience Fair competitors conduct extensive scientific research and communicate their findings through professional reports and presentations. These students will now have the opportunity to compete for a state championship and the chance to represent Texas on the national stage.

Degree Check Results 🖤💛

Logan earned Gold Ratings in both Diversified Crop Production and Grain Production Proficiency Areas. FFA proficiency awards recognize members who have developed outstanding agricultural businesses and work experiences through their SAE programs.

Logan's Grain Production Proficiency was named the State Champion of Texas, making him the top Grain Production SAE student in the entire state earning himself a scholarship and a chance for further competition.

In addition to his state championship, Logan was recognized as a Top Four Finalist for the American Star in Agricultural Placement. The American Star Awards represent the highest level of individual achievement in the National FFA Organization and recognize students whose SAE programs exemplify excellence in skill development, leadership, and career success.

Furthermore, he will receive the American FFA Degree at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis this October. The American Degree is the highest degree awarded by the National FFA Organization and is earned by less than one percent of FFA members nationwide. This achievement reflects years of leadership, service, and success in agricultural education.

If you missed picking up your NCYE checks Monday or Tuesday we will have a shorter pick up time frame tomorrow morning, June 4th from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM. Please remember to bring all thank you cards for buyers and add ons if you haven’t turned those into an ag teacher yet.

Congratulations to Tattum Hill and Cain Williams on being selected as recipients of the Navarro County Go Texan Scholarship!

This scholarship recognizes students who have demonstrated dedication to agriculture, leadership, academic achievement, and service to their communities. Tattum and Cain have represented Dawson FFA with pride, and we are excited to see them receive this well-deserved honor.

We are proud of their accomplishments and look forward to seeing the impact they will make as they continue their education and pursue their future goals.

Dawson FFA had a great day at the Area VIII FFA Convention, and we are proud of the members who represented our chapter.

Congratulations to Klarrissa Chavez on an outstanding performance in the Senior Prepared Public Speaking – Plant Science. Klarrissa placed 4th in the Area and represented Dawson FFA with professionalism and excellence.

Congratulations to Austin Rounsavall and Logan Maddox for competing in the Area VIII Proficiencies. A special congratulations goes to Logan, as two of his three proficiency applications advanced to the State FFA Proficiency level.

We are also proud to recognize the following members who advanced toward earning their Lone Star Degree:
