The UC Davis Department of Political Science offers three majors: Political Science, Political Science - Public Service, and International Relations.
Majoring in Political Science will earn you a B.A. degree that you can use to pursue professional degrees or positions in law, business, journalism, or government. "PoliSci" students, as they are called, study government at all stages, but majors choose a track to focus on specific subfields such as American politics, comparative government and politics, international relations, or political theory.

The Office of Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. is seeking hardworking, detail-oriented interns to join the Office of Legislative Affairs. Applicants should have strong written and verbal communication skills, a positive outlook, and a willingness to commit to tasks both small and large. Duties include providing administrative support, coordinating information and reports from agencies and departments, monitoring and attending legislative committees and floor sessions, writing memos, and compiling weekly reports. The internship offers invaluable work experience for students considering a career in state government. This opportunity is unpaid. Ideal candidates are undergraduates, who can commit 20 hours per week.

Join Lambda Omicron Xi in attending their first annual Benefit Ball. This event is semi-formal and will feature appetizers catered by Chickpeas, Mind reading by Matthew Mayavi, performances from the Greek Beats and the Davis Bhangra Crew, a student panel from NAMI at UC Davis on campus, a photo booth, and a HUGE raffle with hundreds of dollars worth of prizes! All funds raised from this event will be donated towards the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

The Womxn in Science and Engineering Mentoring Program aims to center folx with marginalized genders in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) by providing a supportive, gender positive environment in which students work together with mentors to achieve their academic and professional goals. In doing so, the program aspires to help improve gender equity in these fields. We believe that the recruitment and retention of students of underrepresented gender identities (womxn, trans, gender non conforming, genderqueer, etc) is essential to promoting gender equity in STEM; therefore, we encourage students who identify within a marginalized gender identities such as womxn, trans, and genderqueer to apply to the WiSE mentorship program.

âFood Insecurity: Causes, Consequences, and Policy Solutionsâ â University of California Center Sacramento Sasha Abramsky, Author and Journalist
Sacramento County Planning and Environmental Review is seeking a student intern who will be able to work part-time during the school year and continue full-time through the summer in the Zoning Administration section.
⢠Eligibility. Applicants must be full-time students in an accredited academic program at the time of hiring or between semesters/quarters. Graduating seniors must be hired prior to the end of the academic-term, and will be eligible to work full-time for one year following graduation.
⢠Desired Qualifications. The most competitive candidates are those students majoring in fields related to land use and community planning. Candidates should have good writing, research and analytic skills, and experience with computer software (e.g. Microsoft Office and GIS).
⢠Hours and Compensation. Interns are expected to work 16-24 hours per week during the school year and 32-40 hours per week during the summer. Occasional attendance at evening meetings in the community may be required. Hourly compensation ranges from $12.87 to $14.84 for undergraduate students and $17.85 for graduate students.
⢠Projects/Tasks. Interns should expect to participate in all aspects of work performed by Planning and Environmental Review. Specific duties will vary and may include filing, copying, policy research and analysis, staff report writing, preparation of presentations, and assistance with public information at the permit center or in public outreach meetings. Interns are trained and supervised by professional staff.
