Through this virtual workshop, we hope to explore with you the often-overlooked aspects of being a college student. As first-generation, low-income Latinx/Chicanx students, we often don’t receive the guidance we wish we did from our parents and community. In this workshop, we hope to familiarize you with the unspoken knowledge of topics like office hours, student housing, and grocery resources that most students are usually expected to navigate on their own. ☀️🌙

From one Latinx/Chicanx student to another, we’d like to bridge you to the resources that UC Davis has to offer through our knowledge and experiences! Allow us to be a source of guidance as you prepare for your personal journey into higher education.🫂🤍

Caribbean, Latine, Chicanx Youth Empowerment Conference 2026 🌺✨

“Know history, know self: navigating higher education within heritage and heart” grounded everything we did this year. From community circles to vision boards to familias, we were so grateful to share space with our youth – the present and the future of our community – and witness them follow their minds and hearts with orgullo. Their questions, stories, and dreams reminded us that our histories are alive within them, and that higher education is a place they deserve to claim with pride.
To every student who joined us: thank you for trusting us with your time, your energy, and your visions. All of our coordinators, mentors, and volunteers were deeply impressed by your aspirations, your leadership, and your hope, and we truly hope this conference was as fulfilling and powerful for you as it was for us.
A very special thank you to our High School Outreach Coordinator, Emily. She poured so much of herself into CL CYEC 2026 and showed unwavering dedication, even when the process was difficult. Her resilience, care, and constant commitment to our youth made this conference possible. SOL y LUNA is incredibly proud of her and so thankful for the change she continues to create with and for our comunidad.
