Welcome to our CAMBP Crowdfunding Campaign!
The California Master Beekeeper Program is Crowdfunding this month to raise funds and raise awareness...
Would you help us achieve our goal of attracting support to build THE BEST online 'Beekeeper Apprentice' course in the nation, and perhaps the world? We're creating the online version of our Apprentice Assistant, a new 'introductory' level to the CAMBP that helps folks discern if beekeeping is really for them BEFORE they get bees. The online modules will explore the intersection of honey bees, beekeepers, farmers, food diversity and security. Learners will become 'Honey Bee Ambassadors' capable of explaining the basics of beekeeping and honey bee biology, and be able to convey the devastating effects of pesticides, pests, pathogens, habitat destruction and climate change on our beloved bees. The online course is a series of fun, science-based modules in which the learner and their avatar, the 'Beekeeper Apprentice', explore and earn badges for the knowledge and skills acquired about honey bee biology, beekeeping basics, equipment and PPE, public safety, and the future of farming and food security. This course will be accessible across all demographics so kids and grownups can enjoy 'pollinating' the science behind the relationship between honey bees and our access to fresh, healthy food.
Please donate to our campaign here: https://crowdfund.ucdavis.edu/project/24314 and/or share this link with your social networks so folks have an opportunity to assist in creating a learning legacy that will help us all deepen our understanding of the intimate connection between our honey bees and our healthy, sometimes taken for granted, food supply. THANK YOU!

Here is a nice graphic from the Washington State Department of Ag.
We've had lots of questions about how Asian giant hornets compare in size to other similar-looking insects. Check out our new to-scale size comparison to see!

Worth knowing and following! Hopefully, they won't reach us. Fingers crossed!
"Murder hornets" have now entered the U.S. — and they could decimate the honeybee population
Just when 2020 couldn't seem to get any more chaotic, hornets that look "like something out of a monster cartoon" invaded Washington State to decapitate honeybees and eat their young.

Check out the bee gardening and bee photography classes offered by Dr. Christine Casey at our beautiful UC Davis Bee Garden! April is a wonderful time to visit the garden and take in all the blooming pollinator-supportive plants and of course, our pollinators. https://beegarden.ucdavis.edu/beegardeningclasses
