It’s mooving day! Every few months we move our heifers onto/out of pasture depending on their age and breeding status. At 9 months old, our heifers are released onto the east side of the pasture. When they reach 12 months, they are moved back to the main facility where we keep track of their heat cycles. A few months after that, we begin artificially inseminating them.
Once the heifers have been confirmed to be pregnant, they are released onto the west side of the pasture. A month prior to calving, we bring them back to the main facility and anxiously await the arrival of a new calf!
So if you haven’t seen your favorite heifer out on pasture, have no fear, she’s getting pampered back in our main facility!
