The UC Davis Center for Advocacy Resources and Education (CARE), formally known as Campus Violence Prevention Program (CVPP), is dedicated to reducing the incidence of sexual assault, domestic/dating violence and stalking in the campus community. We serve the students, faculty, staff of the University, including UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. Our role in reducing violence is multi-faceted:

UC Davis is hiring a Training and Education Specialist to support the mission of its Center for Advocacy, Resources & Education (CARE). This position uses evidence-based strategies to design, deliver, and evaluate prevention education, training for professionals, and outreach efforts aimed at preventing sexual assault and harassment, including harassment based on gender and sexual orientation, sexual extorsion, dating/domestic violence, and stalking. The Training and Education Specialist trains and supervises student interns and volunteers, and collaborates with key stakeholders to implement violence prevention strategies for staff, faculty, and students, including graduate, undergraduate, and professional school students. This position also works as part of a team to provide support and advocacy to survivors of assault and abuse.

The successful candidate will have professional experience in the design, development, delivery, and assessment of prevention programs, educational presentations, and professional trainings on sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating/domestic violence, and/or stalking, and will possess knowledge of social justice concepts and current best practices as they relate to violence prevention, excellent communication and public speaking skills, and skills to train and supervise student interns and volunteers. Candidates who are multilingual with the ability to communicate in Spanish, Mandarin, or Cantonese are encouraged to apply.

Completion of the California sexual assault and domestic violence counselor certifications is required; completion of both certifications within 4 months of hire is permitted.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month 2022!

During this month, we will have events with our campus partners to highlight the importance of supporting survivors of sexual assault.

Each week will have a different theme: Rooted, Sprouting, Blooming, and In Full Bloom. We will have conversations rooted in consent to sprout our personal beliefs and address social norms. As a campus, we will bloom into active bystander roles by creating a campus-wide culture where sexual violence is not tolerated.

The Intake and Office Coordinator for CARE serves as the first point of contact for survivors of sexual assault and intimate partner violence. This critical position requires strong communication skills and the ability to offer support to those who have been harmed and may be in crisis. The Intake and Office Coordinator also supports CARE staff with special projects and programmatic needs.

The Victim Advocacy Specialist for CARE works as part of a small yet dynamic team committed to supporting UC Davis students and employees who have experienced sexual assault/harassment, intimate partner violence, and stalking. This vital position provides trauma-informed and survivor-centered case management and requires strong knowledge of social justice approaches, excellent professional judgement, and a wide range of advocacy skills.

Completion of the California sexual assault and domestic violence counselor certification training is required; candidates with an advanced degree in counseling (MA or higher) and equivalent experience as a sexual assault and domestic violence victim advocate may complete the California certification within 4 months of hire.
