After 20 years of service, Marine Corps veteran Gordon Silliker is turning a longtime passion for homebrewing into a new career.

As a recipient of the Michael and Sheila Lewis Scholarship in Brewing, Gordon is now studying in the UC Davis Master Brewers Certificate Program to gain the science, skills and industry connections needed to launch his next chapter in craft beer.

“I'm ecstatic to finally see this journey materialize,” he says.

Juan Palacio, founder of Lardi Brewing, is bringing his passion for craft beer to the UC Davis Master Brewers Certificate Program. With support from the Mark E. Ruedrich North Coast Brewing Scholarship and the Bay Area Brewers Guild Scholarship, Juan is strengthening his brewing science knowledge and bringing new quality standards back to Colombia’s growing craft beer industry.
