Applewood Transitions

Applewood Transitions Take a look at our new webpage for our young ladies program.

For young women who have become stuck at home, at school or in a treatment setting, Applewood Transition provides an opportunities to step back and truly look inward before continuing to move forward on the individual journey. Young adults often reach a point of fight or flight in the treatment process or when they meet barriers at home or school. For some, flight is often easier to choose – wheth

er that means physically running away or mentally and emotionally detaching. At this point, providing the young adult with a new and unfamiliar environment can be the change agent – the catalyst to move forward.

Giving young adults the opportunity to attend a food show is a meaningful way to connect them with the community while helping them explore an industry they are interested in. Experiences like these allow them to step outside of their everyday routines and gain hands-on exposure to the world of food, hospitality, and business.

Attending a food show introduces young adults to new ideas, different cultures, and the many career paths within the food industry. From meeting chefs and vendors to learning about food preparation, presentation, customer service, and entrepreneurship, every interaction becomes an opportunity to learn and grow.

Being involved in community events also helps build confidence and independence. Young adults are able to practice communication skills, ask questions, network with professionals, and experience a positive learning environment centered around their interests. These experiences can inspire motivation and encourage them to think about future goals and career opportunities.

Providing opportunities like this shows the importance of supporting young adults as they discover their passions and develop real-world skills. Exposure to industries they are curious about can help them better understand the dedication, teamwork, and creativity needed to succeed.

Most importantly, attending a food show is more than just a fun experience — it is an opportunity for young adults to connect with their community, expand their knowledge, and continue growing toward a positive and successful future.

There’s something powerful about young adults discovering their voice—literally. 🎶

Learning music and singing isn’t just about hitting the right notes; it’s about building confidence, expressing emotions, and finding a sense of belonging. Whether they’re picking up an instrument for the first time or stepping outside their comfort zone to sing in front of others, each moment is a step toward growth.

Music creates connection. It teaches patience, discipline, and teamwork. It gives young adults a healthy outlet to manage stress and celebrate creativity. And most importantly, it reminds them that their voice matters.

From group jam sessions to solo performances, every experience helps them grow not only as musicians, but as individuals. Watching them support one another, take risks, and shine in their own unique way is what it’s all about.

Keep the music playing—and let every voice be heard. 🎤✨

Today was a day full of hands-on learning and new experiences! 🚗

One of the young adult residents focused on the basics of car care—learning how to check fluids, understand what keeps a vehicle running properly, and safely put air in a tire. These are important everyday skills that build confidence and independence.

After mastering the basics, it was time for some fun and adventure—learning how to drive an off-road vehicle! With guidance and support, they practiced handling the terrain, staying in control, and building confidence behind the wheel in a whole new way.

From maintenance to movement, today was all about gaining real-world skills, trying something new, and growing more independent every step of the way. 🌟

Our young adults had an amazing time enjoying a local resort—taking full advantage of the pool and hot tub while building friendships and creating lasting memories. From relaxing in the warm water to laughing poolside, every moment was an opportunity to practice social skills, independence, and self-care in a fun, real-world setting.

Experiences like these help our young adults grow not only in confidence, but in their ability to engage with the world around them. We’re so proud of the way they supported one another, tried new things, and truly embraced the day.
Here’s to more moments of growth, joy, and community! 💙

Taxes might not be the most exciting topic—but they’re an important part of becoming independent! 💼📊
Our young adults are learning how to navigate the basics of filing taxes, understanding forms like W-2s, and why it all matters. What once felt confusing is now becoming something they can approach with confidence!
These real-life skills are a huge step toward independence. From managing finances to taking responsibility for their future, our participants are building knowledge that will stay with them for years to come.
We’re proud to see them take on new challenges, ask questions, and grow more confident every day. One more step toward adulthood! 🌟

The impact of animals in Applewood Transitions, Journey and Cabin Mountain Living goes far beyond the surface. 🐾💚

Our residents have the unique opportunity to interact with a wide range of animals—horses, cows, pigs, dogs, cats, and goats—and each one plays a special role in their growth and journey toward independence.

Through caring for these animals, residents learn responsibility, patience, and consistency. Daily tasks like feeding, grooming, and maintaining their spaces help build routine and a strong sense of purpose. These hands-on experiences teach real-life skills while also boosting confidence and independence.
But the benefits don’t stop there. Animals provide comfort, reduce stress, and offer unconditional companionship. Whether it’s the calming presence of a horse, the playful energy of a dog, or the quiet companionship of a cat, these connections create meaningful moments that support emotional well-being.

We’re proud to see how these interactions help our residents grow—not just in skills, but in confidence, compassion, and connection. 🐴🐄🐖🐶🐱🐐✨
