https://mailchi.mp/agri-analysis/crs0y9spwh-3416674 Managing grapevine viruses during a time of unprecedented pandemic presents special challenges for growers. Please consider 1) prioritizing your efforts to focus on “essential viruses” such as Red Blotch (GRBaV) and Leafroll Type 3 (GLRaV-3), which are the most prevalent and cause the most economic damage; 2) compositing multiple vines into one sample depending on the testing objective; 3) Using USDA TAP for assistance to defray replanting costs. Most importantly, stay healthy and safe.

Leafroll Disease. In addition to red blotch and Pierce's diseases, FSA has approved Leafroll Disease as eligible for TAP. A minimum of ten (10) symptomatic vines are required to be tested positive per varietal block. Producers should do the required testing, contact their local FSA office to complete eligibility, acreage reporting, and TAP application. Producers should not remove any part of their vineyard until they have talked to an FSA office and started the application process.-
