UC Davis Health Professions Post-Bac Program

Jason Hirsch was at work on an ambulance when he received the news: he had been accepted to medical school.

After earning his bachelor's degree, he enrolled in the UC Davis Health Professions Post-Bac Program to strengthen his application for medical school. Through the program, he strengthened his GPA, prepared for the MCAT and gained research experience, helping him earn four medical school acceptances.

This fall, he’ll attend Rosalind Franklin University Chicago Medical School, taking the next step toward his goal of returning to the Bay Area to serve underserved communities as an emergency room physician.

Seven interviews. Seven acceptances.

As a first-generation college student and non-native English speaker, Diep Nguyen faced obstacles on her path to medical school. Through hard work, perseverance and support from the UC Davis Health Professions Post-Bac Program, she strengthened her academic foundation, built confidence and achieved her goal.

Now, Diep is preparing to begin medical school at Touro University California, bringing her one step closer to the goal she's held since childhood.
