Dear Members,

On Saturday, March 29th from 9 am until 12 pm, volunteers are needed to sort through boxes of food that come in to the Feeding South Florida facility in Pembroke Park from donors, to put like items together. Food donated from food drives, supermarkets and other food industry companies needs to be sorted, checked, and weighed. This food is then prepared into categorized boxes that are given to 350 partner agencies to be distributed to the 949,910 food insecure individuals living in South Florida.

Why volunteer? A few reasons are to meet new people, have hours recorded on your transcript for future employers, and/or professional or graduate school applications, and to make a difference in your community.

Hey BPA Members! Don't foreget our First Brown Bag is TOMORROW 2/10/14 from 11-1 pm IN LA 234. Extra Credit Available! See ya there! Guest speaker is Nicole Vincent graduate student at FAU.

The BPA is supporting our friends at the OSD club at the 4th Annual emb(race)® on Sunday, February 23, 2014. They will bring together people with and without disabilities for a morning of racing, walking and fun. Emb(race)® is a message of hope – and a historic day that celebrates everyone’s abilities. It's an opportunity for friends, family and neighbors to come together and learn side by side about diversity in our community.

The event will be held on the campus of Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL. The event will feature a 5K, 10K and one-mile family walk and include people of all ages and abilities. Whether participants run, walk, stroll, roll, use a wheelchair or hand cycle, everyone can enter. There will be games for children, live music, food, prizes, awards and much more!

The BPA will be signing up to participate in the 5K so if you are interested in participating and spending some time together as a club, please let us know!

All event proceeds will benefit Stand Among Friends' programs and services that support individuals with disabilities.
