UF Geomatics in Fort Lauderdale recently hosted students and faculty from Broward College, including those from the BC Avionics Program, for an informative presentation on careers in Geomatics and the latest in drone technology. The event focused on exploring ways to strengthen the partnership between BC and UF, facilitating a smooth transition for students into the Geomatics program at the University of Florida, particularly at the Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center in Davie.

UF Geomatics at Fort Lauderdale was honored to be invited by Dr. Malou C. Harrison, Executive Vice President and Provost of Miami Dade College, along with Dean Manny Perez from the School of Engineering and Technology (EnTec), to explore collaboration opportunities and develop seamless educational pathways for MDC students transitioning into the Geomatics program at the University of Florida, including our Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center in Davie. We extend our sincere gratitude to our distinguished alumnus, Alberto J. Rabionet of Biscayne Engineering Company, Inc., for facilitating this important meeting. Together, we are forging innovative educational opportunities that will empower the next generation of geospatial leaders.

are out. Happy to read that 26 students from across the US are enrolled in any of the four certificate classes this Spring! # GIS

The UF Geomatics program at Fort Lauderdale has a new toy: An ELIPSE VTOL Multirotor/Fixed Wing UAV with a multispectral Altum sensor acquired with funding from a 2020 UF/IFAS Equipment & Infrastructure Award. We welcome opportunities to partner on interdisciplinary research!

The UF Geomatics program (https://flrec.ifas.ufl.edu/geomatics/) is recruiting one PhD student to begin in 2021. The research topic evolves around the analysis of crowd-sourced geo-data (e.g. tweets, GPS tracker points).
