Here's what I tell parents,

1๏ธโƒฃ Bare feet or plain socks only.
Grippy socks and shoes can throw off their balance on the beam and mats.

2๏ธโƒฃ Practice "listening ears" at home.
It helps them feel confident the moment class starts

3๏ธโƒฃ Keep the hype simple, just "๐˜ธ๐˜ฆ'๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ ๐˜จ๐˜ฐ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ ๐˜ต๐˜ฐ ๐˜ซ๐˜ถ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฑ ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ ๐˜ค๐˜ญ๐˜ช๐˜ฎ๐˜ฃ ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ ๐˜ฉ๐˜ข๐˜ท๐˜ฆ ๐˜ง๐˜ถ๐˜ฏ!"

Count how many of these you've already noticed...

Here's what we're actually looking for before we move a gymnast up:
1๏ธโƒฃ They're landing the skill 8 out of 10 times in practice, not just that one lucky rep.
2๏ธโƒฃ We stop correcting the basics and start cleaning up small form details instead.
3๏ธโƒฃ They start asking me "When do I level up?"
Kids genuinely sense readiness before parents catch it.
4๏ธโƒฃ They can still hit the skill tired, not just fresh at the start of class.
5๏ธโƒฃ They stop needing a spot for skills they used to need help with.
