Join Davidson’s Director of Fellowships at this info session to learn about the Udall Scholarship and how to apply.
Udall Scholarships are awarded to college sophomores and juniors in recognition of leadership, public service, and commitment to issues related to the environment or Native American nations. The Udall Scholarship provides up to $7,000 for eligible undergraduate academic expenses, a summer Scholar Orientation, and access to the Udall Alumni Network. Candidates must be nominated by Davidson College, and the Office of Fellowships is now accepting applications to be considered for nomination.

Madeline Dierauf ’25 has been selected as a Rhodes Scholar ()! 🎉
She is Davidson’s 5th U.S. Rhodes Scholarship finalist since 2018 and our 24th Rhodes Scholar.
A sought-after Bluegrass and Irish fiddle player, Madeline is a founding member of Appalachian trio The Wilder Flower and was the 2020 and 2022 South Carolina State Fiddling Champion. She has conducted research with multiple faculty members and studied folk music traditions in Ireland and Northern Ireland with Davidson’s Fujita Arts Grant. As a Rhodes Scholar, Madeline will complete two master’s degrees in Philosophical Theology and English and American Studies at the University of Oxford.

Susannah Armstrong ‘24 and Madeline Fitzgerald ‘24 have been awarded the Goldwater Scholarship! 🎉🎉
The Goldwater Scholarship, the preeminent undergraduate award of its type, is awarded to college sophomores and juniors in the U.S. who show exceptional promise of becoming the nation’s next generation of research leaders in STEM fields.
Susannah majors in Chemistry and intends to pursue a PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry and conduct translational research to develop treatments for globally pervasive disease.
Madeline majors in Chemistry and intends to pursue a PhD in Organic Chemistry and conduct organic and computational chemistry research in natural product synthesis.
Congratulations to Susannah and Madeline and to the other two Davidson students who were nominated!
