A little change to our schedule this week!

🚫 There will be NO Intermediate Salsa class this week.

🌟 Beginner Salsa WILL be happening Thursday from 7:00–8:00 PM!

Whether you’re brand new to salsa or looking to keep building those fundamentals, come dance with us Thursday night! No partner needed — just show up ready to learn, move, and have some fun. 🎶🔥

📚💃 SALSA ESSENTIALS IS HEADING TO THE LIBRARY TONIGHT! 🕺📚

Tonight we’re taking over the River Valley District Library in Port Byron for a FREE evening of Latin dancing—and we’re bringing Bachata AND Salsa! 🔥🎶

🗓 TONIGHT — Monday, August 10
⏰ 6:00–8:00 PM
📍 River Valley District Library — Port Byron, IL

Here’s the plan:

💜 6:00–6:30 — Beginner Bachata Lesson
🎶 6:30–7:00 — Open Bachata Dancing

❤️ 7:00–7:30 — Beginner Salsa Lesson
🎶 7:30–8:00 — Open Salsa Dancing

Never danced before? Perfect. These lessons are designed for absolute beginners, and you don’t need to bring a partner!

We’ll learn some of the basic steps and movements of each dance, then immediately put them to use during open dancing. No pressure, no fancy footwork required—just come ready to move, have some fun, and try something new. 😁

If you’ve ever thought, “I’d love to try Latin dancing, but I have no idea where to start…” this is where you start!

Unfortunately, I need to cancel Salsa Essentials tonight.

One of our cats has been very sick, and I need to spend this evening caring for her and being with my family. I appreciate your understanding and flexibility.

We’ll be back next week, ready to dance together. ❤️

🌶️ Salsa Essentials is back this Tuesday! 💃🕺

Just a reminder that we’ll be dancing tomorrow evening!

🟢 Beginner Salsa: 6:00–7:00 PM
🔵 Intermediate Salsa: 7:00–8:00 PM

One important note: It’s going to be a HOT one! 🥵 Temperatures are expected to reach the mid-90s, with the heat index feeling closer to 105°.

Since we’ll be moving a lot, I recommend:
💧 Bringing plenty of water to stay hydrated
👕 Dressing in lightweight, breathable clothing
⏸️ Taking breaks whenever you need them

I’ll have the fans running, but they’ll only do so much against that kind of heat. Your comfort and safety come first, so listen to your body and don’t hesitate to step off the floor for a few minutes if you need to.

🌴💃 Salsa Essentials is taking a short break this week!

There will be no Salsa Essentials class on Tuesday, June 23, as I’m currently out of town enjoying some vacation time.

To hold you over until next week, here’s a little clip from an incredible live salsa band I had the chance to dance to in Nashville. 🎶🔥 Nothing beats live music, great dancers, and a packed dance floor!

We’ll be back at it on Tuesday, June 30, ready to keep building those salsa skills and having a great time together.

Until then, keep practicing those basics, listen to some salsa music, and I’ll see you on the dance floor soon!

For those of us who discovered salsa later in life, dancing wasn't just learning steps...it was discovering an entirely new part of ourselves.

Many of us wish we had started sooner. We imagine how good we'd be by now if we had learned in our teens or twenties.

But here's the truth: we're lucky we found it at all.

Dance has a way of bringing people together, building confidence, creating friendships, and reminding us that growth doesn't have an expiration date.

Whether you took your first class at 18, 38, or 68, your journey is valid.

It's never too late to dance.
