From coursework to community impact!

We’re proud to celebrate Dr. Kami Holst and Dr. Angela McCombs, two faculty members from St. Ambrose University’s OTD program, who will be presenting at the 44th Annual Closing the Gap Conference in Minneapolis this October.

Their presentation, “From Coursework to Community Impact: A Scalable OT Model for AT Fabrication & Interprofessional Design,” highlights an important part of what we do as educators: taking learning beyond the classroom and putting it into practice.

Through innovative coursework, our students develop skills that can translate into meaningful solutions for real people and real communities. We’re excited to see our faculty share this model with others in the profession and demonstrate how OT education can create impact far beyond the classroom.

We don’t just teach OT—we create opportunities to put OT into action. 💙

We are looking for patients! Do you know someone who would benefit from continued rehab services through our Interprofessional Clinic? Call or email to schedule your appointment today!

We are seeking licensed physical therapists who would be interested in volunteering to supervise students in our Interprofessional Health Clinic. Our clinic provides student led, no cost rehabilitation service to those unable to receive care in the community. Learn more about the clinic at our website, www.sau.edu/healthclinic. If you have interest or questions, please contact Mike Puthoff at [email protected].

We are also attaching a flyer on the clinic, feel free to share with those in the community who might benefit from our services. We start seeing patients again on September 1.

Missed the LIVE session? Catch the replay! 🎥

We’re excited to share this recorded session featuring research that included participation from St. Ambrose University OTD students. This is one example of the opportunities our students have to get involved in research, contribute to the OT profession, and explore ways to improve assessment and intervention for children with sensory integration challenges.

At SAU, learning extends beyond the classroom. Our students have opportunities to connect research with clinical practice and gain experiences that help them better understand the profession and the impact occupational therapy can have.

We’re proud to see our students contributing to research and helping advance the profession! 💙🧠
