African Charm: Redefining romance for BBWs

"African men have found a sweet spot in the hearts of plus-size women. Gone are the days when full bodied women were fat-shamed, and left in the dark. They now embrace their bodies, finding solace in the growing African community. However, the genuine connection between a big and beautiful woman (b*w) and her African beau remains evident. Despite the negativity, it can't overshadow the joy shared by the couple, holding hands, reminiscing about their time together, or eagerly planning their next intimate moment."

My Oracle came visiting

"My oracle visited again last night—a silhouette from another realm, leaving me entranced in surrealism, with a thousand goosebumps and hairs standing on end as I could only stare.

In the past, it haunted my nightmares, a faceless figure perched at the edge of my bed, paralyzing and muting me. I'd summon the courage to confront it, but my attempts to move or speak proved futile.

Over the years, I've come to terms with my oracle, a spirit whose visits from childhood to adulthood have been uncomfortable and threatening. I'd feel its presence in my sleep, only to open my eyes to its dark outline, sitting on my bed, disappearing after what felt like an eternity, leaving me drenched in sweat.

Last night, the oracle came once more, but this time it stood. Surprisingly, I wasn't transfixed. I leaped from my bed, moving toward it. It uttered a word I recognized, 'fain,' and vanished as I reached out.

Hailing from 'Kom,' a tiny kingdom in the northwest region of Cameroon, 'fain' means 'fear' in the local dialect. As I contemplate the reasons behind these encounters, I now believe this to be a divine intervention."

THE DOGON MATERNAL STATUE:
Does it hold the secret to our existence?

In 1893, a group of French astronomers traveled to Dogon, a small tribe in Mali to observe a rare solar eclipse. They left the seat of Timbuktu with several sacred art objects among them, the Dogon marternal figurine.
In 1939, two French anthropologists went and spent several years with this same tribe to get and understanding of how our existence came to be. The tribe has an incredible and accurate knowledge of astronomy and mathematics which could not have been discovered or developed by them.
According to the Dogon, their knowledge of the sky was given to them by creatures who descended on earth thousands of years ago from Sirius B. Just like the ancient Egyptians and Sumerians, their beliefs aligned with the movements of this invisible yet unknown star which travels around Sirius A, every 50 years in an elliptical manner, something which was completely unknown to western astronomers at the time. Sirius A, is a bright star which can be seen with the naked eye but not Sirius B.
The Dogon people had known for thousands of years that Sirius B was very small but very dense or heavy. Yet its existence was only proven in 1970 when it was photographed by western astronomers. They also knew Saturn has four moons, and has rings and halos around it which can only be seen by powerful telescopes.
The importance of this cannot be understated as it ties with many recent discoveries about our extraterrestrial past. Many academics such as P. Hancock and Robert Temple are now boldly stating with evidence that there must have been contact with extraterrestrial creatures as far back as 5000 and 3000 Bc. Ancient texts from Babylonians and Egyptians also attest to contact with these amphibious creatures.
As we uncover more frequent sightings of UFOs and even world governments declassifying their once hidden contact from us, may be its time to go back and ask the Dogon people who we truly are , and where we truly came from.

THE AMAZONS OF DAHOMEY: The world’s only female army.

When the French invaded the kingdom of Dahomey ( now Benin) in 1897, they encountered an unexpected force. The west African power that drew comparisons to Sparta, was praised for its fierce female fighters called the Amazons. This female army of well over 10.000 spinsters had protected the powerful west African kingdom for at least three centuries, and had marveled European visitors who gushed about their skills and bravery.
It took two long years for the French invaders to defeat and disband this army of female warriors, but only after over 6000 French casualties. Stories of the amazons decapitating the heads of French soldiers, or scaling walls of thorns, or man-handling French soldiers with their bare fists, were squashed by the French who saw these as an embarrassment to the colonial power. They banned anyone from ever mentioning them, and made sure their heroics never got into history books.
The uniforms of captured or killed Amazons were together with many priceless ancestral artifacts from the Dahomey king’s palace, stolen and sent to museums in France. The French colonizers made sure this crucial piece of the Amazon legacy was lost to the eraser of time and colonial rule.
Today, very little is known about this once revered all female army even to the people of Benin. A ‘Catholic Church’ now stands on the spot where the military base of the Amazons was located.

THE NKONDI STATUES

When King Leopold of Belgium declared himself emperor of Congo during Belgiums colonization of Africa’s largest land mass, the looting of the Kongo people’s ancestral treasures followed soon thereafter. The Nkondi statuettes were prime targets. These mystical statuettes were intricately connected to the ancestral and spiritual customs of these people who are closely linked with nature.
Nkondi were deities that can hunt down and attack wrong-doers, witches, or enemies. Its primary functions were to protect households, villages, and other locations from witches or evil doers.
As king Leopold was shipping the indigenes to the americas during the trans-Atlantic slave trade, this spiritual concept was taken along by the slaves, and has an influence on many African diasporic religions in the Afro Americas, Lucumi, notably Palo. It has been diluted and interpreted in several forms, especially as it was black-listed by Christian missionaries in the Congo as evil. It is said the Europeans tried to replace the statuettes with the crucifix due to their uncanny similarities and meanings.
The Nkondi statuettes are now held in the British Museum .

THE ASHANTI GOLDEN STOOL

In 1874, the British Empire conquered the powerful Ashanti kingdom after several wars. The palace of the then Asante King, Otumfuo Nana Kofi Karikari and the private homes of other royals were ransacked. The British under the command of Sir Francis Scott, deposed the Asante King and took control of their gold reserves, and the political and social structure of the Ashanti people fell apart.
Thousands of sacred ancestral treasures were looted, among them were masks and busts made from pure gold, necklaces and bracelets made of gold, coral ornaments, swords, caps mounted in solid gold, knives set in gold and silver, bags of gold dust and nuggets, gold sandals, calabashes mounted in silver and gold, traditional regalia in gold embroidery among many others.
All these paled in comparison with the Ashanti king’s golden stool. A masterpiece carved of a rare gold that seemed to be the main attraction for the mercenaries. This golden ornament is said to have had extraterrestrial origins, and a connection to the mysteries of our existence on earth.
The golden stool as well as a majority of the artifacts stolen from that war are now seated at the British Museum.

THE TANGUE

“Everything that had a deep spiritual meaning to Africans have been taken away in order to teach (them) other religions. You can’t steal the souls of whole people, and then claim to bring them civilization”. Prince Kum’a Ndumbe III.

It has been over 130 years now since the Tangue, a wooden art piece that once adorned the tip of a 19th century Royal vessel of the Douala people of Cameroon was stolen. The ritual object that connected the people of the coastal city with the spiritual forces of the river, is still residing in Munich’s ‘Museum funf kontinente’
When Cameroon was about to become a German colony at the end of the 19th century, the Tangue was still owned by Lock Priso, head of the Royal Bele Bele family. In order to secure trade advantages, the Germans tried to convince the King to sign a protection treaty but Lock Priso refused.
In December 1884, German warships entered Douala and Lock Priso’s resistance was violently crushed. German Consul Max Buchner stole the Tangue before setting the kings palace on fire. The ships beak was looted as spoils of war. A year later, Buchner donated the loot to the Royal ethnographic collection Munich, which is today’s Five Continents Museum.

THE DJENNE’-DJENNO FIGURINES

During the 9th century AD, a rich, varied and highly sophisticated urban society flourished in sub Sahara. Located in what is today Mali, Djenne’-Djenno was one of the oldest cities, and a culture hub. What drew European looters to the city were sacred terracotta figurines.
The terracottas now located in the metropolitan museum of art, are among the few that were stolen pre-colonial era. The purpose for figurines have still not been deciphered. The intricacies of the artifacts still baffles western understanding. It is still debated if the figurines
Were representing deseased people or an attempt to ward off evil spirits, and illness.
One thing is for sure, these sacred artifacts were looted, causing untold harm to the culture of the people. Their return to Africa is of utmost importance.

THE BANGWA QUEEN: artifact or heritage?

Most Africans are oblivious to the cultural war that was launched against the continent by Western powers. It could be a hard pill to swallow for some if they learn that the so called explorers and missionaries who littered the continent in the later part of the 19th century were mere mercenaries. Our history books glorified explorers like Eugene Zintgraff, but little did we know that these people were part of an elaborate plan to strip the continent bare of its sacred and priceless artifacts in a bid to establish cultural dominance.
One of such mercenaries was German explorer Gustav Conrau, who stole the Bangwa Queen during the German colonization of the Bangwa people in the grassfield region of Cameroon sometime in 1899. The sculpture generated global renown when it was sold at an auction for a record-breaking $3.4 million, making it the world’s most expensively priced African artwork at the time.

THE ZIMBABWE BIRD

The Great Zimbabwe Monument was
constructed sometime between the 11 and 14 century by the indigenous Shona people. Found in the monument, was a soapstone carving of a bird known as the ‘Zimbabwe Bird’.
This was yet another astonishing discovery for the Europeans, who refused to believe that native Africans built such a sophisticated civilization. Their disbelief then turned into an opportunity to pillage the great Zimbabwe of its ancestral sacred artifacts. The Zimbabwe bird was one of them.
