Hayes Elementary

🐾❤️ We kicked off something new at Hayes today… Class Families!

Every student and teacher and staff at Hayes has been assigned to a Class Family made up of students from kindergarten through 5th grade! Once a month, our families will come together in their assigned classrooms to participate in fun activities, build relationships, and make connections across grade levels.

We’re excited to watch these friendships grow throughout the year! What a great way to end our week! ❤️🐾

Today, 15 brave 5th graders stepped up in front of their entire grade level to deliver campaign speeches explaining why they would make a great Mayor of JA BizTown! 🎤🗳️

Speaking in front of your peers takes a LOT of courage and confidence, and these students did just that! 👏

One of the best parts? Watching how genuinely proud our 5th graders were of one another! The encouragement, applause, and support they showed their classmates was just as impressive as the speeches themselves! 💙💛

After hearing the speeches, students cast their votes, and the winner will be announced TOMORROW! 🗳️

No matter who wins, we are SO proud of all 15 candidates for stepping outside their comfort zones and showing leadership!

Next stop… BizTown on November 5th! 🐾

Great things happen when families, schools, and communities come together. 💙 About a month into the school year, Hayes Elementary welcomes families by grade level for special Family Nights, giving families the opportunity to meet teachers and staff, share a meal, and get to know the people who will be part of their school experience.

With the support of community partners, these evenings help families feel welcomed, connected, and part of the DCSD community. Way to go, Bulldogs! 🎉

We finished the our final family meeting of the year last Thursday. We had a great time eating pizza and sharing information with our K-1 families. Thanks again to all the teachers and families that showed up for each event and the Davenport Elks Lodge 298 for such great volunteers.

🌟 Student of the Month! 🌟

On Friday, we held our first Student of the Month Assembly of the school year! 🎉🐾

Each month, one student from every classroom is nominated by their teacher for showing what it means to be a Hayes Bulldog by being Respectful, Responsible, and Safe at school.

We are so proud of our first group of honorees and the positive example they set each day! 💙

A big THANK YOU to the Optimist Club for recognizing and celebrating these deserving students each month!

Congratulations, Bulldogs! 🐾🌟
