It seems many of his ideas expressed more than three quarter of a century ago are becoming more relevant and bordering prophetic, be they about peace, sustainability, or education. Prominent personalities ranging from technocrats like *Steve Jobs*, scientists like *Albert Einstein*, social leaders like Martin Luther King, political leaders like Barack Obama and Ronald Regan, and spiritual leaders like Dalai Lama.
He was called a Mahatma by none other than Rabindranath Tagore as early as in 1915. It is notable that he returned back to India only in January 1915. He had already developed such a reputation coming back from England through Africa. His work by then had almost nothing to do with Indian politics. Therefore, my suggestion to many people against him called Mahatma need to calm down and take a deep breath! In India there is a philosophy that everyone (actually everything) has Atma or soul, and those who place their Atma in charge in all their deeds, deserve to be technically called Mahatma. The lesson for each one of us is place our Atma higher up, becoming adhyatmic.
