The world accepts the fact that the next generation of leaders, in all fields, from business to public service, will be required to possess a sophisticated understanding of, and appreciation for, this broader world. To meet this need, LEAP offers a paradigm shift from today’s “checkbook philanthropy” to tomorrow’s partnership model w
hereby, regardless of circumstance, individuals are trained to:
1) Know themselves as culturally competent, accountable leaders.
2) Collaborate with diverse local and global partners.
3) Use education and ingenuity to initiate the change they envision. The LEAP network of diverse, peer to peer teams across the globe empowers the 90% of the world who now “receive” help, to train along side their peers to impact 100% of the world’s chronic issues. The LEAP network is comprised of diverse teams from 2 local communities and 1 global community who engage in a long term, experiential cycle of leadership. As equals, they meet face to face, in and out of school, and via social media, to engage in curricular and social-emotional discussions and activities designed to ensure that they see themselves as important, act as leaders, and build outreach programs that create the change they envision. As a model, LEAP can be used in schools, religious and non-religious based organizations, corporations, non-profits and civic groups. What distinguishes LEAP from other leadership, outreach and young entrepreneur programs?
1. Diversity: To burst cultural bubbles and stretch students outside their comfort zone, LEAP is deliberately taught to a group of racially, culturally and socio-economically diverse students.
2. Experiential leadership: After taking the LEAP to Lead class, students will test their leadership skills to build diverse teams, break down cultural barriers, assess chronic issues and use ingenuity to successfully impact their world.
3. Initiative and Personal Growth: LEAP offers weekly individual and group coaching calls. Each peer to peer conversation identifies individual strategies needed to ensure the team members practice the threads of leadership to achieve their goals. When students are confident and ready, they are offered an opportunity to co-teach the LEAP to Lead class to their peers.
4. Accountability and Success: LEAP trains students to be accountable to their vision and committed to the success of their mission.
5. Enterprise: LEAP empowers each student to inspire mentors around the globe to support their endeavor to create something from nothing with people they don’t know.
