Hinsdale South Band

Our combined symphonic band performed at Hammerschmidt Chapel at Elmhurst University this morning. I really enjoy and appreciate the Elmhurst Band Festival and want to thank Adam Kehl for arranging the day. Good job Hornets!

Our goal this year in band was to emphasize more individual practice. The students helped create some wall art by writing the word ‘practice’ in either languages they speak at home or languages they would like to speak. With the help of ChatGPT, we created a poster for our band room. Enjoy.

Boston Desmond, Kesi Houar, & Jack Polacek had a great experience at the Illinois Music Educators performance at the end of January. This is a challenging level to get to and with hard work and determination, these students did a wonderful job representing Hinsdale South.

Pep Band season wrapped up and we had a great time supporting our basketball teams with our music. We also got a chance to see some of our alumni come back!

Hinsdale South Band will be hosting another Alumni Pep Band Night on January 13, 2026. Call time is 5:00pm so we can play a few of the classics you used to play when you were Hornet Band Members. Spread the word! Boys Basketball will be playing Proviso.

Alumni Pep Band Welcome Alumni!

Holiday Winds had a great performance today for our South students. The volunteer ensemble performed while students enjoyed hot chocolate with the hornet.

Had the pleasure of hearing the Elmhurst University jazz band and their vocal jazz group, Late Night Blues today. Under the direction of Kirk Garrison and Amy Yassinger, the groups sounded excellent. Good things going on at Elmhurst for music.

A big thanks to a lot of people today to pull off our "Breakfast with the Band" event. Wind Symphony did a lot of moving gear and playing, our 8th graders were excellent audience members, and our directors made it possible to bring our students over to perform on the high school stage. I hope our students walk away feeling proud of the product they create on a daily basis.

We would like to recognize our two students who auditioned for and performed with ILMEA jazz on November 15. Both students, despite being in the musical, prepared well, and represented our school. We are very proud of Emily Siarny-piano, and Dean Hernandez-Rahman-guitar.

Opening night for Mean Girls! These students have worked really hard and put in lots of hours. Thanks to Ms. Gallermo and Ms. Boso for jamming on the keys.
