Last night, Hinsdale South went GOLD.

Our Hornet community came together with Cal’s Angels to raise awareness for pediatric cancer and stand alongside the children and families who face this fight every day.

We were especially honored to have Elijah, better known as “Super E.” Elijah join us with his family and helped kick off the evening by taking part in the opening coin toss.

From our student section and band dressed in gold to our athletes, families, staff, and community members, it was incredible to see South rally around such an important cause.

Thank you to Cal’s Angels for the incredible work they do to grant wishes, raise awareness, and fund research for children battling cancer.

Hornets vs. a Pop-A-Shot National Champion!

Lunch got a little competitive today as students had the chance to step up and take on our very own Mr. Josh Caputo in a Pop-A-Shot Challenge!

And this wasn’t exactly an easy matchup. Mr. Caputo is the 2024 Pop-A-Shot National Champion, competed on ESPN’s The Ocho, reached the 2025 National Championship semifinals, and won the 2026 Boston Super Qualifier to earn another spot in the National Championship.

Throughout all three lunch periods, Hornets lined up to take their shot, compete for prizes, cheer on their friends, and see how they stacked up against one of the best Pop-A-Shot players in the country!

Congratulations to our top scorers of the day:
4th Hour Lunch: Milica
5th Hour Lunch: Vikki
6th Hour Lunch: Ben M.

Our top five scorers each period also walked away with some Hinsdale South gear!

Great competition, lots of laughs, and another fun Friday with the Hornets!
