Some of our incredibly talented MCA art students are hard at work fixing up and refreshing the Buccaneer just in time for our first home football game next week!

We can’t wait for everyone to see their hard work and creativity on display. There’s nothing better than using ART to show some Buccaneer Pride!

Please Help Our Buccaneer!

Our beloved Buccaneer, a familiar sight at many of our sporting events, has seen better days and is in need of significant repair or replacement. Our Arts Department is doing what they can, but he’s getting a little long in the tooth!

If you would like to donate a Buccaneer or contribute toward his replacement, please contact Mr. Willis at McIntosh County Academy.

-Pre-Sale Tickets available at MCA for $10.00 (closes at 3:55 pm Friday 8/21)
-Tickets are $15.00 at the gate the day of the game
-Parking in the Erk Russell Athletic Park will be $5.00
-There are concessions available. (No outside food or drink allowed.)

It’s the first day of classes for our Dual Enrollment students. These students are so lucky to be able to take this class on campus at MCA and earn a college credit! They have a pretty cool instructor as well! Thanks Coastal Pines Technical College for sending us the best, Mr. Darius Smith!

🧬 Mrs. Kirkland's Human Anatomy & Physiology: Chicken Wing Dissection Lab! 🐔🔬

After several days of learning about the structure and function of human tissues, students brought it all together with a hands-on chicken wing dissection!

Students explored epithelial, muscular, nervous, connective, and skeletal tissues while observing their structure and function firsthand. They removed the skin, examined muscles and their attachments to bones through tendons, explored blood vessels, located nerves running through the wing, and even dissected a bone to take a closer look at the bone marrow.

This lab gave students the opportunity to see the similarities between chicken and human anatomy and develop a deeper understanding of how different tissues work together to make the body function. What better way to learn anatomy than by getting hands-on! 🧠🦴💪🔬

The Distribution and Logistics Fundamentals class is wrapping up their first unit of course work. One of the activities they did was simulation of a supply chain where students in groups of 5 acted as the Suppliers, Manufacturers, Quality Control, Distribution and Customers by flipping, re-flipping, spinning and rushing to get their batch of pennies to their clients. They completed this task in several ways to simulate things such as large and small batch logistics as well as breakdowns in the chain.

Congratulations to the outstanding students who recently completed our Learners Today, Leaders Tomorrow summer work study program!

Last week, these students celebrated their accomplishments and shared what they learned with parents, co-workers and senior staff. Throughout the summer, they gained hands-on experience, built valuable skills and prepared for future careers.
