Automation & Robotics is gearing up!

Students have been busy learning how gear trains work by building their own and exploring how different gear combinations affect speed, torque, and direction.

After building their gear trains, students took things a step further by attaching a motor and programming the brain to bring their creations to life!

Design & Modeling is off to a great start!

For the past week, students have been working through the Foot Orthosis Instant Design Challenge. Working in teams, they designed and built a prototype of an ankle-foot orthosis (AFO) for a patient with spastic hemiplegia, a muscular disorder associated with cerebral palsy.

Teams had to meet specific design requirements while brainstorming, building, testing, and improving their ideas. To wrap up the challenge, each group presented their finished AFO device and explained their design choices.

Flight & Space is officially underway!

During the first couple of weeks, students jumped right into the engineering design process with an Instant Design Challenge! Their task was to design a paper airplane that could successfully land on a target. Students completed three flight trials, making modifications along the way to improve their designs based on what they observed.

From there, we moved into the science behind flight by learning about Newton’s Three Laws of Motion and the Four Forces of Flight: lift, weight, thrust, and drag.

It has been a great start to Flight & Space, with plenty of designing, testing, problem-solving, and of course, flying! ✈️🚀

Dear Parents and Guardians,

This is a friendly reminder that all online registration paperwork must be completed before your student can pick up their class schedule and locker assignment for the upcoming school year.

Please make sure you select the correct registration option:

✔️Returning Student: Students who attended the Dardanelle School District during the previous school year should complete the Returning Student registration.

✔️New Student: Only students who did not attend the Dardanelle School District during the previous school year should complete the New Student registration.

❗️Students will not be able to receive their schedule or locker assignment until their online paperwork has been completed.

If you do not have access to a computer or need assistance completing the registration, we will have tables set up with Chromebooks available for families to use during schedule pickup. A translator will also be available to assist families who do not speak English.

Thank you for taking care of this before schedule pickup. We look forward to seeing you and your student soon!
