I'm certain you are all aware of the recent assault on the crossing guard, an incident that underscores the resilience of our community when faced with adversity. The victim, a dedicated mother of four and one of my valued daycare parents, is now dealing with unemployment due to the trauma she experienced. Let's unite to offer her hope and support. I have launched this fundraising campaign to ensure she can prioritize her recovery without the burden of financial stress. Your contribution, regardless of size, will serve as a symbol of hope. Please donate generously and share this opportunity with your network, so together we can positively impact her life.

I felt compelled to start this fund in support of a mom who has a long ro… Crystal Hughey needs your support for Standing with Our Crossing Guard and Her Kids

Make sure your entire family is aware of the weather situation today.

Have at least two ways of receiving warnings.

2. Make sure your shoes are on.

3. Download your favorite tv stations weather app and stream their coverage while you’re in your safe room.

W.E.B. Du Bois was one of the most influential intellectuals of the 20th century — a scholar, historian, activist, and co-founder of the NAACP.

Born in 1868, he became the first Black American to earn a PhD from Harvard University in 1895. But Du Bois believed education alone was not enough. He argued that civil rights, political power, and higher learning were essential for Black advancement, challenging the dominant ideas of his time.

Through books like The Souls of Black Folk, decades of activism, and his role in the Pan-African movement, Du Bois helped shape global conversations about race, equality, and liberation. His work influenced struggles not only in the United States, but across Africa and the wider diaspora.

Today, he is remembered as one of the architects of modern civil rights thought and one of the most important Black scholars in history.
