Biologist friends: The announcement for the Biologist I – Ecology Option register just opened today with the State of Alabama and closes March 6. This register does not open often. Please forward the announcement to anyone who might qualify. FYI, registers are an applicant pool for when positions come available within the state. You must be on a register to be considered for an open position. Feel free to have people contact me if they have questions about how to apply. https://personnel.alabama.gov/CurrentJobs

Pass along to all of your teacher friends. This fun, teacher professional development that I am helping lead has a few openings left. We will kayak, seine, go on a night hike/star walk, and learn lots of tools and skills for integrating science, math, literature and art! And you will go back to your classroom with loads of supplies. Free lodging is available for those who are traveling from out of town (or those who want to get away from the family). 😆

We've had a couple of spots open up for the K-2 and the 3-5 session. It's not too late to sign up!

Teacher friends: Please help us distribute this teachers needs assessment to all K-12 teachers who teach science. This survey helps us to determine what types of K-12 environmental education programs and professional development opportunities are most needed by students and teachers in South Alabama and the surrounding regions. Those who complete the survey will be entered into a drawing at the end of February. We will be giving away 5 amazon gift cards (Qty. 1 $100, Qty. 4 $50) and two pairs of tickets to the 2022 Bald Eagle Bash.

Calling all educators! Christmas is the time you tell Santa what you want. Please take a moment to complete our K-12 Educational Needs Assessment survey. This information will help us better understand your environmental education needs.

Survey participants will be entered into a drawing for some awesome prizes!

Don’t forget, join us for Story Time Live . We’ll be reading “A Luna Moth’s Life” followed by a demonstration on attracting moths at your house. Fun Fact: Moths outnumber butterflies by at least a 9 to 1 ratio!
National Moth Week

07/18/2020

Tomorrow begins National Moth Week (http://nationalmothweek.org/). Take to the lights and help us document our moth friends that call Alabama home. You can upload your findings to iNaturalist as part of the Moths of Alabama project: https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/moths-of-alabama. We will also be posting videos throughout the week of some of our "mothing" adventures, starting with story time on Monday.
