I was told tonight, “Special people are taken on special days.”

Christmas was his most favorite time of year. And he left us today…on this special day.

My dad was one of a kind. He was stubborn, smart, funny, ornery, beautifully inappropriate, more generous than most (even when he didn’t have much to give), and his heart was a big one. He loved with everything in him and he was beyond loyal. If he picked you to be one of his people…you were lucky…because I can promise you, he loved you with his whole heart.

He was really struggling lately and he didn’t deserve that. He was ready to go…and he went out exactly as he wanted to. But we weren’t ready. He waited for me to be here…I’m certain of it. And let me say…we had a time last night! We had Christmas Eve beverages and so many laughs. I’m so thankful for that. 💜💔

Thank you, daddy, for teaching me everything I know. Thank you for raising me to love hard and to give even when I have nothing left to give. Thank you for being the best dad anyone could wish for. You are my hero. Fly high, amazing man.

As you all know by now…Jilly’s has expanded a tad by adding a Food truck! We have a few changes coming and want you to be the first to know!

1. NO…we are NOT closing the cafe to strictly have a food truck business. We LOVE the cafe and meeting all of you beautiful people who come in! Our goal is to keep our cafe open for years to come.

2. We have an updated menu coming on September 10th! No worries…nothing is going away…but a few additions are coming. Based on some specials you have loved…we will make them permanent items! If there is anything you would like to see…ASK! We just might add it!

3. Starting Monday, September 9…WE WILL HAVE A CHANGE IN OUR HOURS…THE CAFE will be open Tuesday through Friday 11-3. The Food Truck will be running in front of the cafe on MONDAYS from 11-6. We are doing this for TWO reasons. First, so we can serve anyone who only has a half hour for lunch to come and grab a quick meal (Drink, chips and slaw or potato salad included)…and feed some of you who would like to grab something for dinner. Secondly, we will be using Mondays to bring in all of our orders and prep for the week…deep clean…etc.

She’s 25 today. I gained this bonus daughter almost 15 years ago and what a ride it has been. I was fortunate enough to be involved in her upbringing. I am fortunate enough to have a relationship with her mother…who has become one of my favorite people. It’s crazy how kids can make “broken” families become one. is one of those kids. To say we are blessed is an understatement. Watching her grow up to be an independent, successful young woman has been quite the highlight for me. I hope your birthday is as spectacular as you are my dear daughter who I love so very much. And thank you for allowing me to be your extra mom. 🎂🎈💜
