💔 Month of September — Our Lady of Sorrows
A Month of Compassion, Reflection, and Love at the Foot of the Cross
📌 Why September?
The whole month of September is dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows, whose feast we celebrate on September 15. It is a time to stand with Mary, to enter into her heart, and to learn from her how to love — even when it hurts.
🙏 THE SEVEN SORROWS OF MARY
The Seven Sorrows — the journey of her heart, prophesied by Simeon: "A sword will pierce your own soul too" (Luke 2:35)
1️⃣ The Prophecy of Simeon (Luke 2:34–35)
Mary and Joseph presented Jesus in the Temple. Simeon told Mary: this Child will be a sign that will be contradicted — and a sword will pierce your soul.
💭 Reflection: From the very beginning, Mary knew her Son would suffer. She accepted it, in faith.
2️⃣ The Flight into Egypt (Matthew 2:13–15)
In the middle of the night, Mary fled with her Baby to a foreign land — homeless, afraid, a refugee.
💭 Reflection: She carried Jesus in her arms and in her heart. No comfort, no security — only trust.
3️⃣ The Loss of Jesus in the Temple (Luke 2:41–50)
For three days, Mary searched anxiously for her Son. Sorrow filled her heart — until she found Him.
💭 Reflection: There is no pain like losing Jesus. She sought Him until she found Him. So must we.
4️⃣ Mary Meets Jesus on the Way of the Cross
She saw Him falling, beaten, bleeding. He looked at her — she looked at Him. Not a word was spoken, but their hearts spoke everything.
💭 Reflection: A mother’s heart suffers more than her own suffering. She did not turn away. She walked with Him.
5️⃣ Jesus Dies on the Cross (John 19:25–27)
"Near the cross of Jesus stood His mother." She did not run. She did not faint. She stood — and offered her Son, for the love of the world.
💭 Reflection: This is the greatest sorrow — and the greatest love. She gave what she loved most, so that we could be saved.
6️⃣ Jesus is Taken Down from the Cross (Matthew 27:57–58)
They placed His lifeless body into her arms — the same arms that held Him at Bethlehem, that warmed Him in Egypt. Now He was gone.
💭 Reflection: She held Him one last time. She cherished every moment, even in death.
7️⃣ Jesus is Laid in the Tomb (John 19:41–42)
She watched as the stone was rolled over. Darkness seemed to win. But her faith did not die. She waited. She trusted.
💭 Reflection: Sorrow is not the end. Sunday is coming. Resurrection is coming.
📖 Daily Prayer for September
Pray one sorrow each day, or all seven together:
❤️ O Most Sorrowful Mother, Mary,
Your heart was pierced with a sword of sorrow,
yet it remained always faithful, always loving, always united to your Son.
Teach me to accept my own sufferings,
to unite my pains with yours and with Jesus,
and to trust that even in darkness, God is working.
Holy Mother of Sorrows, pray for us. Amen.

O Most Holy Virgin Mother, Queen of Martyrs,
you stood courageously at the foot of the Cross of Jesus,
sharing in His suffering and offering Him to the Father for our salvation.
Your heart was pierced with sorrow,
yet it remained full of faith, hope, and love.
O Mother of Sorrows,
intercede for us in our trials and sufferings.
Help us to understand the value of the cross,
to unite our pains with those of your Son,
and to trust that nothing — not even death — can separate us from the love of God.
Our Lady of Sorrows, pray for us.
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Amen.

Our Lady of Sorrows — the heart of this month. On this day:

🌸 Mary did not remove the cross from Jesus. She did not remove it from us. But she walks with us to Calvary — and she walks with us to the Resurrection.
