It's Throwback Thursday!
October 10, 1992
The Harvest Jubilee was a Danville tradition that began in 1980 as "Victorian Danville Weekend", hosted the World To***co Auctioneering Championship, and competitions where local home gardeners showed off their best-grown vegetables and canned goods.

The Danville Master Gardeners were part of that tradition, too! These photos from 1992 capture Master Gardeners helping with the home horticulture competition and taking in some of the impressive entries. Just look at those gourds!

It's wonderful getting a glimpse into the history of gardening, Extension, and community life in Danville!

Throwback Thursday!

Throwback Thursday!
Looking back at the 1994 Danville Master Gardener graduating class, we couldn't help but notice a familiar face. Among the graduates was Stuart Sutphin, years before he became Danville's Extension Agent in 2001.
Many in our community remember Stuart for his knowledge and dedication to Virginia Cooperative Extension and the Danville Master Gardeners program. We're grateful for the impact he had on so many gardeners and volunteers over the years. 💚

It's Throwback Thursday! When going through our files this week, we found some amazing old articles and pictures! The Danville Master Gardeners have been making Danville a beautiful city to live in and spreading the love of gardening since 1988! Here is the class of 2001 with our beloved Volunteer Coordinator Debra Bailey. What a wonderful looking group of people!!!

A huge thank you to our fantastic Danville Master Gardeners for spending the last two days helping clean and organize the office! The scanner and shredder can rest well after going through almost 20 years of old meeting notes. Your hard work, positive attitudes, and willingness to jump in wherever needed made a tremendous difference and 11 bags of shredded paper going towards things like chicken bedding, seed balls, and seed paper!
