September is recognized as Alopecia Awareness Month, and the statistics are eye-opening: more than 6.9 million people in the U.S. are living with hair loss.

I know this personally—I hid my alopecia for 43 years. Today, I am proud to be an advocate for women, men, and children who often feel forced to hide behind wigs, hats, or scarves, sometimes in shame or as a response to bullying.

To bring awareness, resources, and empowerment, I host the Alopecia Social Summit, taking place this year on September 14–15 in Danville, VA.

This annual event not only provides education and support, but also draws attendees who contribute to the local economy through hotel stays, dining, and other business engagement.
