Learn About Vegetables at Douglas Discovery Garden scheduled for this evening June 16 2026 at 5:30pm in the garden.

Volunteers were at the garden this morning putting the final touches on the garden and are looking forward to seeing you this evening.

They will have clipboards, pens and paper so you can take notes on how they grow so many vegetables and different types of fruit.

DDG is located at the corner of Florida and Wayne Street off Bowman Ave.
There is plenty of parking on the street and at Kiwanis shelter on the grass.

The committee suggests you wear durable shoes for walking around the garden.
There are several benches for sitting, bring a chair if you like.

VCMG's Presents: Douglas Discovery Garden - garden tours and vegetable talks

University of Illinois Extension is offering the Certified Food Protection Manager Course at three locations this year. This one-day training (9 AM-7 PM) covers key food safety topics like contamination, hygiene, safe food handling, cleaning and sanitizing, and HACCP systems. It meets Illinois Department of Public Health requirements, and participants must attend the full session to take the exam. Lunch is included.

Dates & Locations:
• June 1 - Vermilion County Extension Office (Danville)
• July 27 - Ford-Iroquois Counties Extension Office (Gilman)
• December 1 - Champaign County Farm Bureau Auditorium (Champaign)

Cost: $60 youth | $100 adults (includes materials, exam, and lunch)
Space is limited—preregistration required.
