Internships provide opportunities for students to gain necessary experience for their career goals. This summer, Nichole Satterly '28 was able to do just that as a Studio Sustainability Intern here at Centre College!

"I processed studio waste and reclaim to create pavers, recycling waste that originally had no other disposal method. I intend to possibly pursue ceramics education, and this internship gave me experience running and managing a studio."⁠

The power of a transformative internship!

Over the summer, Caroline Seaford '28 interned with The First Ask in Washington, D.C.

Here's what she had to say about the experience:
"I worked for The First Ask, a PAC dedicated to expanding representation for women at the state level. We worked to break down the barriers in front of women running for state legislatures and ensure they have the resources, man-power and assistance they need to run a campaign. Day-to-day, I conducted donor and opposition research, wrote memos for the executive director, and created content for social media. I also worked on a research project on the individual district demographics in Michigan! This will affect my career plans because of the valuable relationships I have made with women across the country and the campaign experience I have gained. I plan to pursue a career in political and strategic communications, working behind the scenes for administrations and campaigns. This is a great first step for me in politics!"⁠

In the 25-26 academic year, the CCPD shared 145 events, 360 jobs, and internships on LinkedIn through our CEC LinkedIn groups! Events can include CCPD-scheduled events, Handshake events hosted by employers, career fairs, and more. Employers and alumni send us jobs and internships, or we find them when searching on our own, and we always make sure to share them.
Aside from what our CEC groups can offer, LinkedIn is a great place to discover more about opportunities!

We love when internship and research experiences lead to clarified career goals!

Centre senior, Joseph Luo, participated in an internship and research project as an Undergraduate Researcher with the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

"I was able to help a PhD candidate studying brain development. I performed perfusion, tissue sectioning and staining, confocal microscopy imaging, and data analysis. This has made me want to go into neurosurgery as a specialty."⁠

Yesterday, we said so long to the now-retired Sherri Gowins! Sherri dedicated 25 years to Centre College as an essential team member of the CCPD, supporting students in their career exploration and keeping the office running smoothly and successfully. In addition to leading the daily operations of the office, Sherri played an important role in gathering outcomes information for the college, planning our annual Law School Fair, and much more. We will miss her dearly!
