As a charitable, volunteer-driven, community-based organization, the Danville Family YMCA derives its strength from its community roots and strong volunteers. Through collaborations with schools, hospitals and other non-profit organizations, we are able to further enhance and expand the programs and services we offer. Along with a range of exciting activities designed to bring families together, the Y also gives you the opportunity to give back to your community through coaching, mentoring or any number of volunteer options. Danville's longest standing race is back! Registration is OPEN for the 38th Annual Louie Fields 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Family Fun Run! This year's race will be held on Saturday, October 3rd starting at 8AM! Our 38th Annual Pancake Breakfast will also be held in conjunction with the race, as always! Registration fees are $30 for the 5K Run/Walk, and $15 for the Fun Run. After 9/25 we'll move into our late registration period where fees will increase by $5 each. You can register in person at our Front Desk or online at runsignup.com/Race/VA/Danville/LouieFields . For more info on the race you can email [email protected].

In the past month or so, we’ve had some exciting changes and additions to our Leadership staff here at the Y! From left to right in the first pic:

Bailey Lovern is now our Annual Campaign & Membership Administrator; Darnisha Collins is our new Housekeeping Supervisor; Elisa Harris is now our Childcare Coordinator; and Brandon Hairston is our new Membership Coordinator!

As for our Aquatics department (second pic):

Amanda Liberty Cash is our new Aquatics Coordinator; and Wesley Thorne is now our Head Lifeguard!

We celebrated everyone with a couple staff lunches to welcome them to our leadership team! If you see these wonderful people around the Y, wish them luck in their new positions! Congrats to all! 🎉
