🐻 Thank You, Danville!

Our first Danville STREAM Night last week, was an incredible evening of curiosity, creativity, and community. Seeing students explore hands-on activities, ask questions, and discover new possibilities was truly inspiring.

A huge thank you to the local businesses and organizations who shared their time, talents, and expertise with our students. Your willingness to create hands-on experiences helped bring real-world learning to life. The number of Danville alumni that participated was truly amazing!

Thank you as well to the families who attended and spent the evening exploring alongside your children. Your support and enthusiasm helped make the event such a positive experience for everyone involved.

We are so grateful for the strong support from our Danville community, and we look forward to making this event a fun tradition that continues to grow bigger each year! A special shoutout to the Danville Community School District Alumni and spouses that participated! If I'm correct, we had about 14 Alumni participating in the event themselves, and 4 Alumni spouses! I might have missed some though.

Thank you to the mystery donor of these fun supplies for Makerspace! This all came in one box from Amazon today but there isn't a name on the gift receipt!

Can you believe we're nearly a month into the 25/26 school year? Makerspace has been busy the last few weeks. Students have been hard at work learning various STEAM skills. After getting everything organized from the move into the new classroom, I've realized we are needing to restock supplies. In the comment, I'll put this year's needed supplies list.

Here's a video of the new space outside of the library. Makerspace shares this room with the TAG program. I'm still waiting for Facebook to approve the name change, even though it's been nearly 8 weeks!

Hey All! I hope everyone is having a fantastic summer! It's hard to believe that the first day of school is already less than a month away!

In the coming days, you'll see this page get a name change. This year, Makerspace is moving out of the library aka The Bear Den and going mobile! Mrs. Snelson will be bringing STEAM activities into the K-4 classrooms. I've been spending my summer planning for Art activities so the lower elementary students will be able to learn the 7 art elements. We'll be learning these while still doing the STEM activities the kids love and adding new ones! Don't worry the Balloons Over Danville Parade will still be happening! Students in grades forth, fifth, and sixth will still be putting it on!

To help us prepare for the new year, I've put together a STEAM Wishlist. If you're willing to help, please check out the Amazon wishlist below. Items will be shipped directly to the school and I can put them away when I'm there preparing for the school year.

I can't wait to see everyone on August 25th and hear how their summer went!

March is going to be a busy month in the library at Danville Community School District! Hope you'll celebrate with us next week and then check out the book fair the following week during conferences!

I want to take some time to update parents of a staffing change for after break.
As many already know, I am getting my degree in education. This means that I need to student teach right after break during the months of January and February taking me away from the library and Makerspace. The good news is that I'm not leaving Danville so I will still be able to see the students in the halls.
While I am away, Mrs. Kershner will be my sub for the Makerspace program. I have no doubt that the kids will love her and enjoy the program just as much as they enjoy it with me.
I look forward to being back in March and I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas break!

There aren't many supplies that Makerspace needs but one that we do need is new Play-Doh. A lot of ours is dried out. Today Target has Play-Doh 30%. If you'd be willing to purchase and donate, it would be much appreciated!

Staff and students voted on their favorite balloons. Winners will get to eat lunch in the library when we return to school on December 2nd!

I tried to post these earlier but they didn't upload for some reason.

Here are the group photos from the parade!

All of the balloons turned out great! These kids are amazing and work in a frenzy to get them decorated in 1 - 45 min (35 min on Wednesday) session.

This was the first year that all of the balloons made it into the parade without popping! It was our largest too with 45 balloons.
