Happy Mother’s Day to all the Mamas! ❤️
A mother’s love is one of the most precious blessings in this world, but it can also become one of the fiercest forces when her children are threatened. Long before politics, headlines, or opinions, a mother is often the first line of defense for her family.
Today, we celebrate the women who nurture, protect, teach, sacrifice, and stand guard over the people they love most.
From one Mama to another… Happy Mother’s Day. 🌷

Most people don’t think it will ever happen to them.
That’s not ignorance… it’s human nature.
We build routines. We trust our environments. We believe we’ll have time to react if something ever goes wrong.
But talk to people who’ve lived through real moments of violence or crisis, and you’ll hear the same thing over and over:
“I never thought it would happen to me.”
That’s the gap.
The Second Amendment was never about fear or living on edge. It was about responsibility. It was about making sure that when something does go wrong, you’re not standing there wishing you had prepared differently.
Having the right is one thing. Knowing how to use it responsibly is another.
🟣 Training builds confidence.
🟣 Training builds awareness.
🟣 Training gives you options when seconds matter.
You don’t rise to the occasion in a crisis.
You fall back on your level of preparation.
So don’t wait for the “after.”
Train accordingly.

Midweek check-in. 🙋♀️
Are you doing something this week that actually builds your confidence?
Not just thinking about it or saying for the umpteenth time that you want to.
Actually doing it.
Confidence is built in the small moments…
👉 Asking questions.
👉 Learning the why behind what you’re doing.
👉 Taking the time to practice until it starts to feel natural.
That’s what we focus on at Mom-At-Arms.
No pressure.
No ego.
Just real learning, at your pace, so you can walk away knowing you’re capable.
If it’s been on your mind to get started, this is your sign.

2A Tuesday | Firearm Safety
One of the most important safety habits every firearm owner should develop is knowing how to properly clear a firearm.
“Clearing” a firearm means confirming that it is unloaded and safe to handle. This should always be done anytime you pick up a firearm, receive one from another person, or prepare it for storage or cleaning.
For most semi-automatic fi****ms, the basic process is:
1️⃣ Point the firearm in a safe direction.
Always ensure the muzzle is pointed somewhere that would not cause injury or damage if it discharged.
2️⃣ Remove the magazine.
Removing the source of ammunition is the first step in ensuring the firearm cannot load another round.
3️⃣ Lock the action open.
Pull the slide fully to the rear and lock it open so the chamber is visible.
4️⃣ Visually inspect the chamber.
Look directly into the chamber and magazine well to confirm no ammunition is present.
**Bonus points if you have someone else with you to confirm as well!
5️⃣ Physically verify the chamber is empty.
Many instructors recommend also physically checking the chamber to ensure it is clear. This is done by carefully inserting the tip of your pinky finger into the chamber to feel if it is empty.
Remember:
Never assume a firearm is unloaded. Always verify it yourself.
Responsible firearm ownership begins with education, awareness, and consistent safety habits.

👋 Situational Awareness Sunday 👀
Most people think situational awareness means constantly scanning for danger.
It doesn’t.
It simply means not walking through life on autopilot.
Next time you walk into a store, restaurant, or event today, take five seconds and ask yourself:
• Where are the exits?
• Who’s around me?
• What feels normal here… and what doesn’t?
• If something weird happened, where would I go?
No paranoia. No tactical gear required.

The quiet moment before class at Jeni's Joint in Ringgold last weekend.
Everything is set up and I’m doing one last mental walkthrough before everyone arrives.
This is also the moment where I give myself a little pep talk:
“Okay… try not to be too goofy today.”
And then the students arrive and within 10 minutes I’ve already said something weird and everyone is looking at me like I’m a nutcase. 🤪
Thankfully by the end of class everyone is usually laughing with me instead of at me... and also asking great questions. 😊
Turns out people learn serious topics a lot better when they feel comfortable… and when they realize they’re not the only weird one in the room. 🥸
Big thank you to Jeni’s Joint for letting us use their space and for always being so welcoming. ❤️

Something I need to clarify for folks...
I didn’t enter the fi****ms world through the training pipeline like most instructors and "pew" influencers have.
I came through the information war.
Before I ever taught a class, I spent years researching, investigating, and exposing misinformation that targeted women, families, and communities.
That work shaped everything about how I teach today.
My mission has always been the same: help women cut through fear, confusion, and noise so they can make informed decisions about their own safety, because statistics show WE are the most targeted.
So, before putting me in a box with all the other "tacticool" instructors, keep in mind... we are NOT all built the same and there are very FEW like me.

AG-Elect Jones and Abigail Spanberger haven't even been sworn into office yet but they're signaling they're coming for our rights. 👇
We must stand together at Lobby Day and make it clear we will not stand for having our natural rights infringed upon!
