Happy Friday KDBA families!

Thank you to those who were able to make it to your lunches on the patio. By the end of the week, over 50% of our families made the effort to be a part of this special event that we have. The students in the building LOVED having that time with you, as evidenced by their smiles that lasted for the remainder of the day! Thank you again to those who were able to make it!

There are several attachments to our post this week. The first being our weekly schedule. As other schools have started doing, we have created a calendar of events for the coming week. Please make sure you open that graphic for more details.

The next attachment outlines our Attendance Spirit week for this coming week. Please take a look if your child is interested in participating.

Our next attachment is for SENIORS ONLY. Parents, if you have a graduating senior this year, you can purchase an ad in the DHS yearbook. Details are in the attachment!

Parents of students in grades 7 and 8. As a reminder, weekly progress reports are sent home with students EVERY Monday. If we do not have school on a Monday, or if a student is absent, the students are given their grades as soon as they return. Please ask your child about those grades every Monday! If you are not getting these reports, speak with your child, and then call their homeroom teacher. The middle school teachers want parents to know, at all times, how the students are doing academically.

Parents of high school Juniors and Seniors. Permission slips were sent out for a college visit to the University of Illinois that will take place October 2nd. Please make sure you sign and return this if you would like your student to attend.

Good evening and happy Friday KDBA Families!

We had a wonderful, and short, school week where many memories were made as we participated in the Homecoming Spirit Week! We are also celebrating that all of the grade levels are falling into the routine of school and most everyone is doing a great job! Keep up the great work KDBA!

Here are your announcements for next week:
1. We are having our Picnic on the Patio Monday-Thursday this week. Check out the flier below for your specific time and date.
2. Students interesting in joining Student Advisory Board can pick up applications starting Monday in the office. Students in grades 5-8 need to return their completed forms to Mrs. Free and students in grades 9-12 can return their forms to Ms. Earles.
3. Progress reports are coming soon! They will be mailed home on September 18th. Please contact the office if your address has changed so we are sure to get that information to you!
4. On the calendar this week: Normal 5 day school week

Good evening KDBA families-

Happy Friday Everyone!

This week our Juniors and Seniors were able to visit Danville Area Community College to attend a college and career fair. Pictures from that event are shared below. Our Yearbook Club and EnviroEd had their first meetings this week. I again encourage students to join one of our extra-curriculars. Student Advisory Board will be taking applications soon. Don't forget we also have Poster Club!

September is Attendance Awareness Month. We will have surprise attendance awards throughout the month, and we will have an attendance spirit week later in the month. We will send out more information on this as it is available, but please make sure your student is in attendance so they are eligible for prizes!

Next week is homecoming week for our high school students. A spirit week flyer is below for those wanting to participate. If you are planning on attending the Homecoming football game, please remember DHS has a clear bag policy and students in grades K-8 must be with an adult to enter the game.

Parents whose students are car riders, we need your help with following our drop off areas. Please pull into the parking lot on the south entrance to the parking lot to pick up and drop off car riding students. There are several reasons for this request. First, the area on the street is reserved for our buses to drop off and pick up and cars being on the street slows this process. Furthermore, we have seen several close calls of students almost getting hit when they try to walk across the street to access their ride or enter the school. Safety is one of our priorities so please help us by using the U-shaped parking lot for drop off and pick up.

While we are discussing safety, as you are all aware, schools are required to perform safety drills throughout the school year. We will begin doing our fire, storm, and intruder drills in the coming weeks. There will be more information in the weekly email for parents.

Finally, we will again have our Picnic on the Patio the Week of September 14th. Home Interventionists will be contacting families with more information, but this event is a day for parents to come have a lunch with their child during the school day. We have lunch on the patio and parents have the option of bringing lunch for their student. We break the days up by grade level with 5th and 6th grade families here on September 14th, 7th grade families here on September 15th , 8th grade families are invited on September 16th, and high school will be on September 17th.

Wednesday September 9th, 2026 Early dismissal- 2:00

Good afternoon KDBA families and happy Friday!

We had a productive week at KDBA! We had our first graduate and several students earned high school credits. Our poster club met for the first time and yearbook meets next week. Lots of great things happening at KDBA!

Three reminders this week:

*Yearbook Club is meeting after school Tuesday 9/1/26

Good evening KDBA families, and happy Friday!

We had a great week at KDBA as shown in the pictures below. We are so happy to have so many of our students registered and in school. Thank you parents for making that happen!

We also had an amazing Open House on Thursday evening. It was great to make connections with so many families. If you were not able to make it, we hope to see you at our next event.

Next week is a full five day week. We have an early dismissal on Wednesday 8/26/26. At KDBA we dismiss at 2:00 PM that day.

One last reminder, if you are still having bus concerns please call the bus garage. If you have academic or school concerns please call the school!
