As you have probably heard by now B&J Music where I have taught many wonderful students for the last 12 years will be closing their doors June 1st after 62 years.
This is a sad day for our music community because now we will not have a retail music store for an aspiring child or adult to go in and enjoy the smell of new instruments and dream of becoming a musician. We will no longer have the place to go to buy sheet music and lesson books and be able to browse what else is available.
The saddest part is all the employees and teachers who have earned their living in this fine store that Bill built. Even though B&J Music was not the size of Quaker Oats who will be closing at that time also leaving 500 people and families without that income, the effects are the same. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time being a teacher at B&J, but it’s time to move on.
I will be moving my belongings to Oakwood where Dustin Danger and I have come to an agreement and look forward to what this new adventure has to offer.
To all my current students and parents, thank you for your support and encouragement for the future and to future students I look forward to having a larger facility that will enable to better expand my teaching. I will post when the move will officially take place and do not expect any interruptions to the lesson program.

Balloons Over Vermilion kids area. Come make a joyful noise.

In need of hand drums. Will be doing an interactive percussion event for Balloons Over Vermilion, Saturday July 8th at 1:00 pm. Haven’t done this in several years and no longer have all the hand drums or percussion that I once had. This is an excellent opportunity to have kids of all ages participate in a drum circle environment and introduce them to the world of rhythms and music. If anyone has any of the following please let me know. Djembe (8” or larger), dumbek (8” or larger), cajon, frame drums of any kind. I would like to borrow some hand drums if possible or if you have something you would like to donate to be used for future events, that would be great. Will be returning this event to next year’s Arts In The Park and also do an introduction to percussion in the schools.

This is from several years ago at Arts In The Park. All these young people were waiting there for me when I got there to set up. They had visited my area the year before so had looked forward to it. Look at all the red vests on the kids, they volunteered for help and be involved.
Will be doing this again at Balloons Over Vermilion Saturday July 8th. Stop by and see us and listen to some great music the kids possess.

I love Spaghetti and for such a great cause. Have several students involved and can’t wait to see them perform. Come join us and support the music in our schools.

Addition to my teaching studio. Want to learn how to play Cajon or other hand drums. World percussion has always had a piece of my heart.

Starting next week I am going to expand my teaching schedule from Monday and Tuesday to add Wednesday 3:30-5:00 and Thursday 3:30-8:00. I have some openings and trying to make it easier for those that struggle making a Monday or Tuesday lesson time. Learn to play drums, do it for your own fun or learn the skills to play with other musicians. Come make a joyful noise.
