Good Evening!
I would like to personally invite each of you to dine tomorrow at Texas Steakhouse to support Grove Park & Northside Preschools. You are welcome to eat in or get takeout. The preschools will get 10% of the proceeds from tomorrow, and all you have to do is show a picture of this flyer. Please support our children and enjoy dinner for your family.

Good Evening Preschool Parents! This is Principal Wright-Simmers.
It's hard to believe that we have been in school for about a month! Thank you for your patience as we have been trying to get your children out of the cars and into the cars safely and efficiently. We would like to ask you to place your car rider tag on the passenger side window so it will be easier for our callers to see the child’s name and the teacher’s name. Also, please stay in your cars. We can get your kids out.

We are so proud of everyone’s attention to school attendance. We will have surprises each month for the children who have perfect attendance each month.

This week begins our Fall assessments of the Virginia Kindergarten Readiness Program (VKRP). Our 3 and 4-year-olds will be assessed on their math skills beginning this week. This will be a baseline assessment and will allow teachers to know how to organize their small groups. Children are not expected to get all of the questions correct. After all of the assessments are completed, teachers will schedule a conference to review the results with you.

Lastly, school will be closed on next Monday, September 7th for Labor Day!

Have a great evening!

Preschool Families,
I want to share that this school year the Danville Public Schools were awarded by the Virginia Department of Education 90 extra preschool children slots for this school year and we were able to fill those slots with the wonderful Northside and Grove Park Preschool children. The extra students have definitely challenged our arrival and dismissal procedures. We are making a change to hopefully help arrival and dismissal to be safe and efficient. Beginning tomorrow, the 3 and 4 year old car riders will be arriving and being dismissed from the parking lot. Buses will arrive and depart from the Guilford Street door. We are asking parents to enter from the top left of the shared parking lot. Drive down to the cones and stop. We will have a double line. It will remind me of the Chick-Fil-A line, so get in the line that is shorter. We will be out tomorrow early to show you what we mean. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we find the best way.

Good Evening Preschool Families!
I want to share some great news about some of our team members. At a recent school board meeting, 3 of our team members were recognized for their Perfect Attendance during the 2025-2026 school year. Jasmine Bratton, teacher at Northside Preschool, Cynthia Johnson teacher at Grove Park Preschool and Chimere Prunty Cafeteria Manager at Grove Park Preschool were honored for coming to school every single day.

Mr. Grant Poole, our Music Teacher at Grove Park and Northside Preschool, presented a professional development workshop for elementary music teachers of Prince William County Schools on Tuesday August 18th. The school district is rolling out a universal preschool program for 4 year olds in the county. Several of the music teachers have already been teaching music to preschool aged children, and many more of them will be phasing preschool classes into their schedule. The workshop focused on what a preschool music class looks like, preschool music standards, and activities that the teachers can implement day one with their classes. We are proud of our preschool team!

Good Evening Preschool Parents. This is Principal Wright-Simmers. Your little ones are figuring school out. Starting tomorrow I am going to ask that the walking of your child into school will need to stop. We are working on their independence. Thank you for helping us with this. Color week continues this week with Purple on Monday, Pink or Brown on Tuesday, Black on Wednesday, White on Thursday and Gray on Friday.

We are also beginning to see runny noses, sneezes and coughs. We teach our child how to cough or sneeze into their arms and the Hand Washing Song and use it every time we wash our hands. It goes like this:
Tops and Bottoms, Tops and Bottoms
In between, In between
All around your Hands, All around your Hands
Now they're clean, now they're clean.

Remember our attendance policy. Too many absences can put your child’s preschool slot at risk of being lost.

Lastly, Please remember to keep your car rider tags in your car. This helps speed up the dismissal process. Also, Please be safe at dismissal. There is no driving in front of other cars, vans or buses, and don’t take a U turn after you have gotten your child. Have a wonderful week.

Good evening Northside Preschool Parents, this is Principal Wright-Simmers. I will be making calls and sending emails every Sunday evening to give you information about the upcoming week. Our preschoolers are coming along just nicely. Still a few tears but they dry up very quickly. For car riders this will be the last week that parents will be allowed to walk children into their class. We are trying to build their independence every single day and walking to class is a big part of that. They are big girls and boys walking in by themselves. Speaking of car riders in the afternoon. We rely on getting the car rider line moving by using our car tags. If you do not have your blue car tags, please come to school and pick them up. Lastly, tomorrow starts our color weeks and tomorrow will be red day. So have your child wear red to school tomorrow. I hope you have a good evening.
