I have a master's degree in American History from Illinois State University. My thesis entitled "The Countryman: Joseph Addison Turner and the Cultural Construction of Confederate Nationalism" won the 2015 James C. Bonner Award for best Master’s Thesis on any period, region, or field of Georgia History, from Georgia College and State University. I teach history classes at the local colleges around

Illinois. I frequently speak on historical topics for various organizations. I am currently studying for the Gettysburg National Military Park Licensed Battlefield Guide exam.
