🏅Congratulations to St. Mary’s Second Grader Lucy Carroll for her Honorable Mention ribbon at the Topsfield Fair Amateur Fine Arts Competition! 🖼️
Lucy submitted a piece of artwork which she created under the guidance of SMA’s art teacher Ms. Beck, and she won an honorable mention ribbon in her division (8 and under).

In the words of Lucy’s mom Emily, “ Lucy truly LOVES art and art class with Ms. Beck is one of her favorite things at school each week. She (and we) is so lucky to have a passionate, kind teacher who is fostering her love for art. I just wanted to share the impact that great teachers have on our children, even outside of the classroom. We are so thankful for St. Mary’s!”

We look forward to seeing more beautiful works of art from Lucy and all of Ms. Beck’s students 🎨

Learning doesn’t stop after the last class of the day.

This fall we are hosting 15 after school clubs throughout the week. Ranging from Photography to Lacrosse Skills, students have a wide range to choose from based on interest and age appropriateness.

At St. Mary’s our afterschool enrichment program is a core part of the school experience, providing more ways to connect, inspire, and grow with our students🌟

📣We continue to expand our academic offerings and this year we are thrilled to launch a Middle School Spanish language program!

Welcome Mrs. Tommasino!

“¡Mucho gusto! My name is Cara Tommasino, though my students know me as “Profesora”. I am thrilled to be joining the St. Mary’s community this year, as I step into the role of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Spanish teacher. I am grateful for the opportunity to help develop the Spanish program here at St. Mary’s!”

Today we commemorated the 25th anniversary of 9/11 by coming together in prayer and a moment of silence.

Throughout this week, students engaged in grade specific projects reflecting on unity, faith and the heroes whose actions saved so many lives.

In today’s school mass, Father Luís reminded the students that here in our Catholic school, Jesus is always with us.

He can help us carry our heavy backpacks when life feels weighed down. Wonderful words to start off the school year ✝️

We saw a lot of smiling faces at last week’s Welcome Back Open House. Thank you to all of our new and returning families who joined us as we celebrated coming back together for the school year! 🍎📚

Our new school President, Dr.
Volonnino along with Principal Gabbianelli and Assistant Principal Driscoll had the opportunity to connect with a number of our families as teachers welcomed students in to see this year’s classrooms.

Such great energy in the building this week!

Professional development plays an integral role in advancing our teachers in the classroom but also forming bonds as a whole school team.

We heard from faculty members who spent this summer exploring an impressive array of topics such as:

•The role of Catholic teachers as Faith leaders

•How AI is shaping classrooms

•Responsive classroom and the science of reading

•OT through play

•Understanding how to build back boundaries, roles, and responsibility in a middle school environment.

•Mr. Sanzone went to Abraham Lincoln’s log cabin in Tennessee as he studies about how American myths impact our study of history.

With so many different stories to tell, we will feature more from these teachers and this important work as the year continues.
