A few highlights from the EMS World Expo exhibition hall in Orlando! 🚑

New equipment, new technology, and plenty of things we didn’t know we needed until we saw them. 👀

One of the best parts of EMS World is getting a chance to see what’s new, talk with the people behind it, and get hands-on experience. Today, we saw some pretty cool stuff, including the spray dried plasma from a local Beverly company, Velico.

And yes…we’ve already found some fun stuff to add to the sim lab.

🎓 They did it!

Congratulations to our 20-Day EMT students on officially completing their EMT program!

Twenty days ago, they walked through our doors on Day 1 and got right to work with CPR. Since then, they’ve packed an incredible amount of learning, studying, skills practice, simulations, patient assessments, extrication, MCI training, and testing into a very short period of time.

This program moves FAST, and getting to graduation takes commitment, hard work, and a whole lot of practice, practice, practice.

Next up: the State Psychomotor Exam on Saturday, where they’ll test alongside students from our other EMT classes. 🚑

One more big step on the road to becoming EMTs. We’re proud of how far they’ve come and can’t wait to cheer them on this weekend!

Keeping skills sharp! 🚑❤️

This week, our instructors were out with Watertown Fire Department for CPR training.

Even for experienced EMS and fire professionals, high-quality CPR takes practice. Regular hands-on training helps reinforce the fundamentals, strengthen teamwork, and make sure everyone is ready when seconds matter.

Thanks to Watertown Fire for having us out for another great week of training!

MCI Drill Day for our 20 Day EMT students! 🚑

Today, students put everything they’ve learned throughout the course together during a mass casualty incident simulation.

With multiple patients competing for their attention, students had to quickly assess and triage patients, establish priorities, communicate with one another, and work as a team to manage a challenging scene.

They also learned another very important EMS lesson: pay attention to your surroundings and wear your PPE…or you might unexpectedly go from provider to patient. 😬

MCI drills are a great way to reinforce that EMS isn’t always about managing one patient at a time. Sometimes the challenge is stepping back, looking at the entire scene, and figuring out how to do the most good for the most people.

Fortunately, simulation gives students a safe place to make mistakes, talk through what happened, and learn from the experience—especially those who may have learned today that scene safety really does come first. 😂

Busy day for our 20 Day EMT students! 🚑🚗

The day started with a visit with Bob from Northeast Regional Ambulance before students headed outside for Vehicle Extrication Day!

Students worked through vehicle extrication scenarios with a focus on scene safety, patient assessment and stabilization, communication, teamwork, and coordinating patient care throughout the extrication process.

It’s a great opportunity to take everything they’ve been learning in the classroom and apply it to a challenging, hands-on environment where patient care and rescue operations have to happen together.

A big thank you to Northeast Regional Ambulance for taking the time to visit with our students, and another great day of hands-on learning as this class gets closer to the finish line!

By now, our 20 Day EMT students have been introduced to all of the practical skills they’ll be tested on—which means it’s time for practice, practice, practice!

The rest of the course is about putting in the repetitions, building confidence, refining technique, and learning how to bring individual skills together during patient care.

Every scenario and every practice session is another opportunity to ask questions, learn from mistakes, and get more comfortable applying what they’ve learned.

Keep putting in the work—the finish line is getting closer!

Difficult airway simulation training at Amesbury Fire Department today!

Crews were challenged with a critical patient presenting with multiple issues that needed to be recognized, prioritized, and managed simultaneously.

Scenarios like this go beyond practicing individual skills. They challenge providers to think critically, communicate as a team, delegate tasks, and continually reassess priorities as the call evolves.

Simulation training also provides a safe environment to work through challenging situations, discuss different approaches, learn from one another, and identify opportunities for improvement—without the pressure of a real patient encounter.

Great work by everyone today focusing on critical thinking, teamwork, communication, and managing the whole patient—not just one problem at a time.

It’s only Wednesday… and it’s already been a busy week! 🚑
