Our Kindergarten classroom have been exploring cultures in Asia, including kimonos from Thailand, Japanese tea, and writing colors in Asian dialect. Special interest was taken in constructing Asian architecture.

Our Toddlers have been interested in everything! From sensory activities like water, shaving cream, snow and ice, to art projects with paint, chalk, tape, dobbers, and markers, they are bona fide artists and scientists. Brimming with confidence, our toddlers have been taking special pride in toilet training, helping each other with tasks, and developing independence skills every day!

Preschool has been learning about Dinosaurs! A favorite curriculum of all ages, we explored carnivores, herbivores and omnivores by painting tracks, creating habitats, and reading books on Dinosaurs. We even became Archaeologists and excavated dinosaur bones from sand!

Our children have been very busy! While increasing attention span, focus, and concentration, children actively engaged in curriculum also develop the brain through cognitive and executive functioning skills.

Preschool and Kindergarten have been learning about continents and cultures, including terrain, weather, languages, and traditions. Our Toddlers have been exploring sensory items, including sand, glue and shaving cream, while exploring physics using cars and ramps. Our children have also been practicing dressing in winter clothes. Stay warm, my friends!

Happy Holidays Everyone!

As the holidays approach, we would like to offer families the opportunity to donate items to a couple drives which are very meaningful to us.

The Beverly police department is sponsoring a toy drive in memory of Officer Connolly who passed unexpectedly on October 29th, 2020. They are asking for new, unwrapped toys on December 4th. If interested, please drop off toy donations to CMC by Friday, December 3rd and we will deliver to the Beverly Police. More information is provided here: https://patch.com/massachusetts/beverly/beverly-police-host-2nd-connolly-memorial-toy-drive

Along with the toy drive, we will also be collecting food items dedicated to young families in Lowell, MA. We will begin collecting food items with more information to follow.

Thank you from our family to yours!

We've been very busy at CMC!

Our Toddler room has been exploring the leaves of fall while practicing self-help skills, including dressing themselves, cleaning up after themselves, and learning social skills to communicate their needs to teachers and other children.

Preschool has been working diligently on building a fire truck! Painting a cardboard box, the children taped cups for wheels, glued cut up paper plates for the hose, craft sticks for the ladder, and pom poms for the lights. We also had a well-timed visit from a fire truck during a fire inspection.

Kindergarten has been learning a lot about the world. The children enjoyed a volcano explosion while studying continents, and we are beginning to hear children read after taking the time to write their own books.

Happy Fall!

Independent Skills

Whether putting on their jacket, washing hands, or cleaning up after themselves, learning independent skills are a key component of early childhood. With the goal to achieve self-dependence, children are given minimal assistance to complete a task independently. Even if children are unable to complete the task, the practice of trying a new skill builds resiliency, independence, as well as the ability to ask for help when needed.

We had a great week! This is the time all the children are comfortable in their classrooms, and we see a lot of development. The Preschool children are learning to climb on our structure, and have been exploring different media, such as sand, clay, paint and water. Our Toddler room has started group games, including rolling balls to each other. Kindergarten has explored a multi-week project to see the optimum conditions for seeds to grow. They planted seeds with and without soil, sun, and water, which has had some surprising results.

We had a great week at CMC! Preschool has been exploring light in several different ways. The science of shadows, translucent and opaque colors, and light reflection are fundamental to understand more complex scientific concepts later in life.

The Toddlers have been exploring sensory activities, including glue, shaving cream, water and natural materials. While practicing fine motor skills and exploring texture, the children are also creating their own beautiful works of art.

First Day of School!

Our Kindergarten class is already in mid-season form with children returning from last year. While excited to be back, they've been very welcoming to our new children in Preschool and have enjoyed helping them learn the day's routine.

Preschool has many new friends who have excitedly explored the classroom. With newfound art supplies, building materials, puzzles and books, they have been very busy playing with everything!

Our Toddler room welcomes back many new and old friends. While transitioning to school for the first time may be difficult for some, we appreciate our returning toddlers who set a warm, engaging spirit in the classroom.

CMC has been busy! As the children have continued their work with construction, they are also very responsible when keeping our classrooms clean. Practicing sweeping, cleaning up spills, and organizing materials, along with handwashing and self-dressing, develop independence skills and respect for our environment.
