At Kids At Play, one of our top priorities is making sure our babies feel safe and secure with their teachers in the infant classroom. Having our infants feel safe and secure in our classroom ensures that they feel comfortable to learn, play, and grow in their environment.

Babies are not just randomly smiling. Their earliest smiles are a window into their emotional world. Studies show that infants smile most at the people who make them feel safe, loved, and understood. This isn’t just about happiness; it’s a sign of secure attachment and trust forming in their developing brain.

When a caregiver consistently responds to a baby’s needs with warmth, the infant learns that the world is predictable and safe. This reassurance triggers positive emotions, and the brain releases dopamine and oxytocin, reinforcing the bond. Smiling becomes a natural response to that safety.

Fun with fine motor! Yesterday we worked with play dough, spaghetti, and beads. Putting the beads on the spaghetti is fun for them and helps strengthen their pincer grasp and improves hand-eye coordination. This is just one of the fine motor activities we do here at Kids At Play!
