🎶 Tonight's first home game includes a special moment beyond football.

When Jefferson Co High School takes the field against Sevier County High School tonight, two East Tennessee communities will come together at halftime to honor a woman whose impact reached far beyond our region.

Dolly Parton, a Sevier County High School alum and former SCHS band member, never forgot her Tennessee roots and remained a lifelong champion for education, music, and young people. In tribute to her legacy, the Jefferson County High School Band and Sevier County High School Band will join together for a performance of Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You."

No matter what happens on the field tonight, this halftime performance is a reminder that some things are bigger than competition. Across county lines, we're united by music, mountain roots, and a woman who has always felt like family to East Tennesseans. Her generosity, her love for her Tennessee home, and the pride she brought to our region continue to connect us all.

144 Backpacks, One Big Community!

The love and appreciation shown for Nurse Jill this week speaks volumes about the impact she has had at Jefferson Elementary School.

From caring for students on difficult days to being a trusted and comforting presence in the school community, Nurse Jill has touched countless lives. As her retirement approaches, JES staff and students are making sure she knows just how much she is valued and loved.

We mourn the loss of Dolly Parton, whose impact on our state extends far beyond her music. Through her unwavering commitment to literacy through the Imagination Library, she has gifted more than 332 million books to children, including almost 3.2 million books each month across 5 countries. Dolly inspired generations of Tennessee children to discover the joy and power of reading, putting millions of books into the hands of young readers. Jefferson County Schools recognized outgoing school board members Bill Jarnigan, the late Randall "Coach" Bradley, and Josh Cameron during Monday night's work session.

Director of Schools Dr. Tommy Arnold read proclamations issued by Jefferson County Mayor Mark Potts, honoring the lasting contributions each individual made through their service to students, schools, and the Jefferson County community.

Collectively, the three members contributed decades of leadership and service to Jefferson County Schools. Jarnigan served 20 years on the board and held leadership roles as vice chairman and chairman. Bradley served 16 years on the board and also served as vice chairman and chairman while dedicating his life to the community as a teacher, coach, county commissioner, and school board member. Cameron served from 2022-2026, becoming the youngest member seated at the time of his election and serving as board chair from 2024-2026.

The proclamation honoring Coach Bradley was accepted by his wife, Carol Bradley.

Thank you to Mr. Jarnigan, Coach Bradley, and Mr. Cameron for their dedication and service to Jefferson County Schools and the community.

🏆 More than 4,000 annual info updates submitted, and hundreds of families assisted: A smooth start to the school year for Jefferson County Schools!

The numbers tell part of the story, but the real story is about the people who made it happen. Since mid-July, Jefferson County Schools' school-level attendance and registration staff along with district staff have worked tirelessly to support new student registration and annual information updates for the 2026-2027 school year.

From answering questions and assisting families in person to solving problems behind the scenes, these teams have helped create a smooth experience for families across the district. Their efforts included assisting 217 families during this year's registration event as well as introducing on-site QR code access at schools and the event. This new option made it easier for parents and guardians to complete updates on their mobile devices.

Their work doesn't stop when forms are submitted. By listening to feedback from families and staff, these teams continue looking for ways to improve the registration process each year.
