At the Future Ready Expo, 8th grade students across the district explored future career opportunities through hands-on activities and conversations with local industry professionals!

Students interacted with representatives from health care, public safety, advanced manufacturing, business, information technology, retail services, agriculture, and trade and industrial fields. From exploring emergency services and aviation technology to learning about skilled trades and other career pathways, students gained valuable insight into opportunities available in their community and beyond.

Experiences like these help students connect their interests and education to future career goals, supporting Jefferson County Schools' commitment to preparing students for success beyond the classroom!

Thank you to Heather Seals, Tensley Seals, Hailey Qualls, and Brydon Qualls for spending part of their Fall Break helping Rush Strong School recover from a water leak by cleaning, organizing, and clearing out storage space. Their willingness to step up and serve is a great example of what makes our JCS community so special.

Juniors and seniors recently had the opportunity to explore options beyond high school at the Jefferson Co High School college fair!

Representatives from a variety of colleges and universities joined students in the gym to share information about degree programs, campus life, admissions requirements, financial aid, scholarships, and career opportunities. Students were able to ask questions, make connections, and learn more about the many pathways available to them after graduation.

Events like this are an important part of helping students connect their interests and goals with future opportunities. We are grateful to all the colleges and organizations who took the time to visit JCHS and invest in our students! Their collaboration with Jefferson County Schools helps expand opportunities and gives our students valuable resources as they prepare for life after graduation.

When our district honored the impact of Dolly Parton on our schools and community, Jefferson Co High School brought the spirit of Dolly Day to our elementary schools through a day filled with service, creativity, and connection.

JCHS Youth Leadership and Service Learning students worked alongside our youngest learners in a variety of activities including gardening, painting, and literacy experiences. From getting their hands in the soil to creating artwork, our high school students helped make learning fun and meaningful for elementary students.

Our high school students served as role models while strengthening their own leadership, communication, and teamwork skills. Most importantly, Dolly Day helped build connections across our schools. When our high school and elementary students learn, create, and serve together, we strengthen the relationships that make our district and community special.

📣 Parents, we need your help! This is the year that Jefferson County Schools selects social studies curriculum and textbooks that will be used in our school district for the next 8 years. We will have a committee of social studies teachers and parents that will make a recommendation to the school board regarding which textbook series to choose.

We are looking for parents who currently have children in Jefferson County Schools to serve on the Social Studies Adoption Committee (T.C.A. § 49-6-2207). The parent committee will review the sample textbook materials from the approved state list, meet for approximately one hour in the evening during both fall and spring semesters, and work with teachers to make the final textbook recommendations in the spring. Additional time commitments would include reviewing sample materials on your own.

Materials go through a rigorous state-level process to ensure they meet criteria and are aligned to Tennessee state standards before they make the approved state list. Our local teachers and parents select what we think will work best for our students from that list.

Over this week’s fall break, two members of the Rush Strong School family were achieving a major milestone.🌟

Congratulations to Dr. Martin and Dr. Medley, who successfully defended their dissertations and earned their Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degrees during the break!

Their dedication to professional growth and lifelong learning reflects the commitment educators across Jefferson County Schools bring to serving students every day. We are proud to celebrate this achievement and the impact these leaders continue to make in our schools.

Second-grade ESL students at White Pine School Home of the Cyclones have shown that literacy can come to life in amazing ways!

Through a Readers’ Theater performance of The Gruffalo, these students showcased their growing reading skills and confidence as they brought the story's characters to life. We are so proud of their hard work, courage, and willingness to share their learning with an audience!

A special thank you to Ms. Heidi and Ms. Yessica for the encouragement and support they provide every day to help students grow as readers and confident communicators.
