We were so happy to be part of Wings for Autism at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport last week! ✈️

Families had the chance to practice getting boarding passes, going through security, and boarding a plane in a supportive setting. It was wonderful to see an unfamiliar experience become a little more familiar.

Masking can make it harder to see when a child is overwhelmed, uncomfortable, or working hard to navigate their environment. That’s why it’s important to look beyond what we see on the surface and stay curious about what a child may be communicating.

At Kyo, our ABA therapy is customized around each child’s unique needs, interests, and goals. We meet children where they are and focus on meaningful progress that supports them in everyday life.

They held it together through class. Through transitions. Through conversations, expectations, noise, and a full day of being “on.”

Then they came home.

For some children, home is where the exhaustion or overwhelm finally shows up. That doesn’t mean the day went badly. It may mean they’ve reached the place where they feel safe enough to decompress.

If after-school hours are hard in your house, you’re not alone. Give them time. Give them space. And remember that what you see at home is an important part of understanding what your child needs.
