What an incredible weekend.
A huge thank you to Deskin Sensei for leading such a powerful and inspiring seminar. The training was intense, focused, and deeply engaging from start to finish. Every session pushed us to sharpen our weapons work, refine our timing, and elevate our attention to detail.
We really appreciated the chance to be on the mat with you this weekend.
Thank you as well to all the dojos and practitioners who joined us. Your participation, spirit, and commitment made the mat energy strong and supportive all weekend long. It was an honor to share training space with such a dedicated community.
Looking forward to the next time we can train together.

We are thrilled to share that over President’s Day Weekend, February 13–15, 2026 (Friday–Sunday), we will be hosting a Weapons Intensive Workshop in the Bay Area with Diane Deskin, Sensei.
Traditionally, President’s Day weekend has been a meaningful time for Birankai, as Chiba Sensei often brought member dojos together during this period for practice and connection. In that spirit, we are organizing this event to both honor that tradition and to provide an opportunity for our community to gather, rekindle relationships, and train with intent.
Because our dojo is small, we have partnered with a nearby dojo and secured a beautiful, spacious training facility, ideally suited for weapons practice. The location is about 10 minutes from San Francisco International Airport, with many hotel and Airbnb options close by. We will also coordinate transportation for those who may need assistance.
We want to give you early notice so you can mark your calendars and share with your students.
Please pre-register here and save your spot: https://www.paypal.com/ncp/payment/T53WJHEHKE876.

Had an amazing Aikido seminar this weekend with Darrell Bluhm Shihan as our guest instructor! Huge thanks to Bluhm Shihan for sharing his wisdom and energy, and to Aikido by the Bay for generously allowing us to use their dojo space! Also, thank you to everyone who came to train. The training was fantastic, and it was great to be on the mat with such a dedicated group. Looking forward to the next one!
