PAWS is so proud of Andrea!!

🎉 Congratulations to Dalton High School senior Andrea Najera, who was selected as a finalist and attended the prestigious Georgia Governor's Honors Program this summer! Andrea studied Communicative Arts, spending a month at Georgia Southern University alongside 600 other top students from across Georgia — growing her passion for storytelling, which she also brings to life as manager of Dalton High's student newspaper, the Catamount Times.

Way to go, Andrea! 🏆📰

When one of our students is recognized as a PAWSitive Panther, they receive something extra special—a token for our book vending machine!

That token means they get to choose a brand-new book of their very own to take home and KEEP.

That’s where our community comes in! Donations to Books on the Block: The 405 Book Project help us purchase the books that keep our vending machine stocked and ready to celebrate our Panthers.

🐾 $5, $10, $20—it all adds up to more books in the hands of City Park kids!

Can’t donate right now? Sharing this post helps, too!

Help us keep the 405 stocked with stories and our PAWSitive Panthers reading!

Learning math is hands-on and so much fun! Today, students in Mrs. Maulding's class used colorful counting blocks to construct their very own "neighborhoods." Each building was designed to represent numbers in different, creative ways while practicing foundational math concepts.

Learning Volume Through Play!

Mathematicians in Mr. Allre'ds class put their math skills—and their creativity—to work by creating their own games about volume! Then came the best part: getting to play the games their classmates designed!

Students practiced important volume concepts while problem-solving, collaborating, and learning from one another. When students become the game designers AND the players, learning takes on a whole new dimension!

Third Grade Rocks… Literally!

Our 3rd grade scientists have spent the past few weeks learning about the three types of rocks and how each one forms.

On Friday, students put their learning into action with a sweet Airheads Rock Cycle Lab! Students used candy to model the different processes rocks experience as they change from one type to another. They were able to see, touch, and experience the rock cycle in action—and have a little fun along the way!

Hands-on learning makes science concepts come to life, and these Panthers were definitely rockin’ their learning!
