Dalton State College will host a training exercise on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 5-6, beginning at 8 a.m. Participants will include local law enforcement officers and first responders. There will be an increased presence of law enforcement and first response vehicles on campus. You may also notice caution tape near campus buildings. These activities are part of a scheduled training.

Dalton State received a $553,000 federal award to support the Para to Teacher Pathway Program, an initiative designed to strengthen the teacher pipeline across Northwest Georgia by helping local paraprofessionals become licensed educators.

Participants continue working alongside teachers and students while completing coursework in the evenings and summers.

Funding will support several areas expected to have the greatest impact on student success and program completion, including field experiences, mentor teacher stipends, licensure preparation and testing costs, technology expenses, classroom supplies and other critical resources that help paraprofessionals balance full-time employment while completing degree and certification requirements.

Sponsored by Sen. Jon Ossoff and Sen. Raphael Warnock, the project received bipartisan support from Georgia's Congressional delegation.

Business leaders, educators, economic development professionals and workforce experts from across Northwest Georgia will gather Oct. 29 for the second annual Northwest Georgia Workforce Summit, presented by Dalton State College and Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC).
This year’s summit will be held at GNTC’s Gordon County Campus and will bring together leaders from education, industry and government to explore strategies for ensuring Northwest Georgia remains competitive in a rapidly changing economy.
The summit will begin at 8:30 a.m. with registration, coffee and networking and conclude at 3 p.m. Attendance is free, but registration is required. For additional information and to register, visit daltonstate.edu/workforce-summit.

Dalton State College has been named one of the nation’s Great Colleges to Work For for the third consecutive year, earning recognition in eight workplace categories and securing a place on the program’s Honor Roll for the third straight year.

The 2026 results, released Sept. 18 in a special insert of The Chronicle of Higher Education, were based on assessments of 171 colleges and universities nationwide. Only 42 institutions earned Honor Roll status, which recognizes colleges receiving honors across the greatest number of categories within their size classification.

Employee feedback is the primary factor in determining recognition.

Dalton State College earned recognition in eight categories for the second consecutive year, reflecting strengths that span leadership, employee support, professional growth and institutional culture:

Celebrating a legacy
Today, we unveiled the new name for our School of Health Professions building in honor of Dalton businessman and philanthropist C. Kenneth “Ken” White.
The new name, Ken White Health Professions Hall, recognizes White’s nearly three decades of leadership, service, and philanthropic support that helped propel the college’s growth and success.
Please join us in thanking Mr. White for his unwavering support of Dalton State, our students and the Northwest Georgia community.
